AOE pally leveling? Or ret?

Hi Classic veterans! Had a couple questions for the paladin class:

  1. Can I level as efficiently as Ret by playing as an AOE prot paladin?

  2. If not, is it a close call to which one is faster?

-Figure if i leveled as an AOE prot paladin, I can efficiently tank dungeons as I level.

Thanks everyone!

How about if you level and have fun and leave the “E” word out of it?

AoE Pally works after a while, cant remember what level but I remember leveling while farming earth eles in Badlands. Also you can tank dungeons. So I’d say its the quicker way to go, because you will get into Deadmines groups easily.

I tried leveling prot and hated it. Ret isn’t as bad as some fools on the forums make it out to be. It’s a utility class, and it’s way more fun once you accept that and utilize your blend of offensive, defensive and healing abilities.

Prot is more efficient but you have to prio packs. Never single target otherwise ret better

Thanks everyone for the advice, see you in SOM.

I would say Ret. There just really isn’t much in the Protection tree that even benefits you while leveling. Seal of Command is by far the best seal in Classic. Obtained at level 20 through the ret talents. You could easily tank a 5 man while leveling in ret as well. Even without the improved RF in the protection tree. Just throw on a shield and Righteous Fury. Only problem is you’ll have to spec into the holy tree for consecration.
