Hi all, new to unholy. When there is no cd’s available (ra, ua) and i do aoe pulls in mythic, my dps is trash. Like 1m tops. Its embarassing. Is this normal? and if someone has a good opener for the aoe without cd’s let me know.
Unholy as a spec often does tank damage outside of cooldowns, so don’t worry about it too much. Taeznak does amazing work to solve how DK works on both Wowhead and the DK discord server, so you can always check that out for good information.
It does depend on if you’re running Riders or Sanlayn, so I’ll assume San’layn right now, and as a simple AoE Rotation you can use:
- Raise Abom
- Abom Limb
- Festering Strike
- Unholy Assault
- Vile Contagion (on the target with ~6 Wounds) (If Talented)
- Apoc
- D&D / Defile
- Dark Transformation
- On Use Trinket / Pot if relevant
As an opener
For our general AoE Prio
- Scourge Strike / Vampiric Strike (to maintain Plaguebringer)
- Festering Strike on procs
- Epidemic on sudden doom procs or less than 2 runes
- Scourge Strike / Vampiric Strike
There’s some variables here.
What level keys are you doing? Low keys and unholy sort of don’t mix, especially if you are sanlayn. Nothing lives long enough for our ramp up to do its work.
Do you have 4 set? If so run sanlayn, no army, no abom, pick up the death coil talents and the extended DT duration talent. On mob pull drop defile, DT, UA. Prio Vamp Strike and Death Coil. Spend sudden doom on DC unless you are in a large pull, probably like 6 or 7 mobs, then you prio epedemic if you don’t have a priority kill target.
Consume scythe procs to keep your wounds rolling. Refresh your defile. Refresh your diseases after your infliction window ends (I hate this interaction btw blizzard)
I know this seems so counterintuitive compared to how we play in raid or last season, but welcome to being a vampire you are allowed to be weird.
