Aoe Damage in Arena

I’m actually surprised devokers didn’t get nerfed harder in pvp, that spec is brainless.

whoever thought it was a good idea needs to be fired immediately that’s all i know

braindead boring AOE simulator, not sure if it is just shuffle but arena doesn’t feel the best right now

I get it though, dev is far more counterable in organized play when people know exactly which windows to shut down.

However, in shuffle/ lower mmr it’s parsefest and dev cranks if left unchecked. The irony is blizz has nerfed specs for doing less even if they were counterable in coordinated play , i guess they’re being lenient cause it’s their latest pampered creation.

100% They did it with DKs when they were first released. Same with Monk, and DH. If it’s new it’s broken for a little bit.

I don’t mind the pacing but my traps breaking because my partners, or even myself now, exist is annoying.

Because almost ALL of those things are clickbait and feel/theorycraft for viewer attention, not based on actual data from how games play out.

Don’t get me wrong, I think they’re fun and see why people like them, but they’re REALLY not a good indicator of balance.

Devastation is absolutely nutso now; all 3 dragon specs are, and anyone who says otherwise is a silly goose.

Trap in general feels SO archaic. It’s the only ground targeted Skillshot in the game(?) Besides spear, it has a travel time, and it breaks if a sparrow farts next to it.

On it’s own that’s something that should make it’s own interesting play; if you stack to break traps, you get cleaves, if you spread, you get trapped. However, every class and their mom now (INCLUDING hunters with stomp/bombs/explosive shot) has like a 10 yd aoe constant damage pulse on their buttons. I’ve even seen a secret technique shadowclone break a trap before XD

I think the easiest fix right now is to give trap a dmg threshold. But it has to be a finely tuned one, I should never be able to freely send dmg into a trap on purpose with out breaking it.

No, they’re just made from a specific point of view. That of people ranked about 1000 mmr higher than you.

There are//would be different tier lists for different levels of play. No one (perhaps unfortunately) makes tier lists for people in lower mmrs, so they feel a little offbase or convoluted, but they’re pretty accurate to the level of gameplay.

Who gonna tell him?

Wait till y’all see fully operational DH cleave back on the menu.

Eye Beam actually doing proper cleave damage is going to destroy melee lobbies, and if you think to yourself “well thats okay, DHs are a cleave class, their ST sucks.” pause lol, Eye Beam is also going to do like 1.8-2.5m dmg on a single target because Isolated Prey is fixed.

We’re so back boys

hoping you are correct, after seeing the same classes in arena for the 100th time i welcome this change

Howdy mr. Foxing. It’s totally fine that you don’t know me because I’m absolutely a nobody, especially relative to most streamers! However, I’ve pretty consistently been one of the highest rated boomies in 3s for the past two expansions. I also had the highest rating in the world in shuffle for the last two weeks right up until the last day of the season back in dragonflight s1. Some seasons my cr has been lower because I stop when I get my gladiator, but my mmr is always around the bottom of the R1 range.

Obviously I’m nowhere near as good as rudar or dipi or asbur, and I spend most of my time multiclassing and PVEing; all my characters are linked and freely viewable (I don’t bother hiding behind a classic alt). However, I feel like I’m pretty qualified to have a solid understanding and opinion of what tierlists and balance looks like, especially given that I fight the best players, and “just good” players to see the real differences between classes piloted well versus “perfectly”!

Further, I disagree that it’s from a “top mmr pov”, because boomy was one of the most broken specs all of shadowlands and half the streamers put it as “A tier” (which is arbitrary and means next to nothing). Similarly, some streamers put assa rogue in B-C tier season 4 of dragonflight when it was the strongest and most meta-defining spec.

Players like saul and dorito regularly play underrepresented specs that they think are totally fine, viable, and appropriately tuned and they believe would belong in “A tier”, but ironically named their awc team “f tier” because of how the majority of the community; including r1 streamers think their specs are bad.

Finally, many streamers are biased towards specs that they play, with people like xaryu (who barely even plays wow anymore) or nahj saying rogue/mage are perpetually B-C tier and act as though it’s perpetually easy to outplay and beat.

Tier lists are fun, and overall look at neat pictures of what is strong/well represented, but often miss or underrepresent things that are perfectly fine or even overtuned in certain ways. They also lack dilineation and definition between what the tiers are and mean. Not sure why you felt the need to open with a backhanded comment, but I’d recommend even doing a modicum of research before you make yourself look so foolish.
