is this obtainable in cata? i’m curious my friend is farming it i was wondering if he was wasting his time or not.
I’m pretty sure it is! There’s a WoWHead comment from Nov. 2010, Patch 4.0.3 that mentions its droprate at 1-2%, and that you no longer need the key.

More importantly the boss is now spawned by default rather than requiring a druid (or however it worked, I never did it pre-Cata).

Yeah I ran it the other day on a dk and the boss was there.
the Raven Lord mount has never been removed from the game, they just made it so that the boss will now always spawn and doesn’t need a druid with the epic flight quest.
You can also get Anzu from the Tank/Healer northrend supplies you get after running a heroic. So after your Setthek Halls lockout, you can passively farm it running heroics.
