Didn’t we attack it with Maldraxxus, killed everyone there and we had like massive necropolis flying there?
We didn’t lose in that attack, why are they gone? Shouldn’t we secure entrance at this point in story already?

I was wondering the same thing. It doesn’t make any sense at all. You’d think minimally, we’d have one of those fancy portal things to ensure the heroes of the story could get to the raid entrance.
Not many people know this but - It’s an old mmo concept to have elites/enemies outside of dungeons/raids. glad to see they’re holding true to that still.
lore wise though - you’re right it doesn’t make much sense
(Source: Kevin jordan explained this on his stream once)
According to KJordan, the outer area of dungeons/raids were treated like mini-dungeons while your team waited to meet up (in the EQ days I think is what he cited but not 100% sure if that was the game). He was explaining the whole idea behind the outdoor portion of Wailing Caverns (which also had a secret path of mushrooms to find your way to the dungeon entrance…I didn’t know before that stream!)
Wonder if there was a secret behind Sunken Temple’s outdoor area?
They love old “RPG elements from the roots of wow” that people quit other games to get away from. They designed the perfect MMORPG by packing it full of stuff people hated, stuff that they tried in the past and had to revert. Can you feel the perfection?
The mobs being there wouldn’t be that bad if they didn’t all have charge and slow, and a crazy high chance of knocking you off your mount.
Also the way they aggro is BS. If there’s two mobs standing on either side of a road generally you can run thru one of them, so that only that one aggros instead of running down the middle and getting both of them. But these mobs on the way to Sanctum don’t work that way, you can run thru one, being far outside of aggro range for the second, yet it will still aggro when the first one does. Super annoying.
Well it makes about as much sense is the fact I can visit Ice Crown and see Arthas still sitting on his throne. Of the fact that in spite of the Alliance winning both warfronts in the story, they are still raging on today.
Korthia drives me up a wall with this. Players can drag mobs across you, even if you’re afk, and the mobs on their ‘return to original spot’ run, will stop at you and start attacking you.
So GD annoying.
Some Horde did this to me with a bunch of mawsworn and an elite, while I was fighting.
I hit shadowmeld and laughed while the combination of his mobs and my mobs murdered him.
The same reason why we are able to still see Northrend Dalaran with Rhonin telling us to raise our eyes to the sky’s
The same reason why when we die we aren’t permanently gone
You can see an invasion army with a battering ram in front of ICC gates. They weren’t there at the start of Wrath. They got there eventually.
Just like Maldraxxus did. But for some reason disappeared.
Why, they feel the need to have to run to that raid with mobs that dash at you and slow you down is about as annoying as (expletive) there needs to be a freaking port to entrance there from airport hub or where we go when we land in the maw…
And yet inside, Arthas still sits on the Frozen Throne as the Lich King
Oh man… you guys would have hated Maraudon…
EDIT -
helpful workaround 1: Have at least 2 players capable of stealth. Problem solved.
Helpful workaround 2: Have at least 2 tanks in your group.
Helpful workaround 3: Travel as a group
Helpful workaround 4: Be competent enough to just run past them… It’s not exactly hard.
ONLY TWO MEMBERS OF YOUR RAID HAVE TO ACTUALLY GET THERE.
come on it’s not so bad. players wanted the open world to feel dangerous with consequences, so an elite run to sanctum is a nice little ‘sit up in your chair’ moment.
i’m usually slouched back pressing keys while watching my second monitor. when it’s time to go for the world boss, I have to actually pay attention and play like I might actually die.
