Anyway to get my laptop to work? (FPS lag)

I believe I have an integrated graphics card which I’ve been told is a problem, though I don’t know why, and I’m wondering how I can get this game to work because every time I enter Stormwind city the FPS drops rapidly. I believe I’ve heard there’s a difference between integrated and dedicated graphics card so I’m guessing the independent 3rd party graphics card is the dedicated card. I tried to update my graphics driver through my registry. I tried shutting down unnecessary background applications, I tried turning the graphics down to its lowest level but still doesn’t work.

If the laptop can’t be workable what is your suggestion for a gaming laptop that can be used? What I’m curious about is the “integrated” graphics card that goes with a laptop. Can I augment a new graphics card that can be used? Is it advisable to use a gaming laptop or is it unwise? I’ve heard that “any” laptop can work for wow but this laptop clearly isn’t working. I got it from Walmart for 300 about 2 years back.

Is there a background anti-virus running in windows 10 that I could stop that would resolve this issue? If it is the case I need a new computer I’d figure to just buy a new one as that’s not bad. I appreciate your assistance.

Is there more information you need?

That would be correct.

It’s usually built into the processor (CPU). Googling the processor name with “integrated graphics” will tell you which one is being used.

In this case, it’s this one being used:

Both the CPU and the integrated GPU for this machine fall below the minimum requirements for any of the WoW titles, so upgrading to a newer model is recommended. However, you’ll want to do a bit of research online for recommended machines that will run the version of WoW you want to play (Shadowlands has the highest requirements of the three), since that’s not something I can help with.

The Intel UHD 600 graphics which is embedded in the N4000 is a very basic graphics processor. So, laptops with the Celeron N4000 / UHD 600 can run only the most basic PC games. so your laptop will run WoW but the FPS / Performance will be not so good . i have a old laptop with the same but with a N3350 cpu / UHD 500 graphics and have 14 to 24 FPS. any laptop with an i3 i5 etc with 8GB ram or more will work

Ok I get what you’re saying. Something like Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop. I observed it was an i7 processor and 16 GB ram and it looks like it has both integrated and dedicated. I did a quick google search earlier and was a little daunted and didn’t quite know what to look for. Now that I have an idea. Thanks for the help.

That machine will play it, but the hard drive is a bit small. Depending on the version of WoW, it may occupy about 100GB of space. For me it’s over 100GB right now.

Additionally, if you must stick with a laptop, make sure it has more than passive cooling (i.e. it includes manual fans). Most thin notebooks do not have the cooling needed for gaming.

You make a good point. Maybe I’d have to get external harddrive or settle with desktop computer. Manual fans would be desk fans or one of those laptop cooling pads?

look for a laptop that has room for a SSD and a M.2 drive. so you can put windows on the M.2 drive and have games and whatnot on the SSD.
512GB drive is more than enough space… i have a drive with (C drive) 242.9GB and have 67.4 free space and WoW takes around 80.0GBs of 171GBs the used space

Depends which versions you’re playing. If you want to play multiple and you have any PTR clients, it’s much more.

Ok so I did extra research and the Nitro 5 does indeed have M.2 and has 2 TB SATA but for some weird reason on the microsoft website it doesn’t have this info so I’m guessing a different version but it has more details on the acer website.

I’m not sure if they are the same model… it both says Nitro 5 on the acer website. Did Microsoft not include the information or is it a mistake? Bit odd.

So while it did have an m.2 turns out it was totally different model with 256 SSD. Thanks for a nod in the right direction. Helps a lot.
