For real, why is this a talent, it’s a dead talent again, please make it baseline Blizzard, this is one of the worst DK changes made in the beta.
Why did Blizz make two new runes if no one can actually use them without losing their mandatory runes of Fallen Crusader, Razorice, w/e the heck tanks use.
Upsetting for sure considering it was one of the most hyped abilities to come back as baseline. Perhaps bring it back as baseline without the Arbiter ability so it’s not so strong.

Second, I don’t really know. They’d much rather make Epidemic baseline and the next thing we know that we’re OP because of the amount of AoE we do.
Who woulda seen that coming?

Is it the Festering Wound AoE?
Is it Apoc?
It’s certainly NOT Death and Decay or Death’s Due… Right? Because Defile is bugged with Withered Ground right now and if it’s fixed… maybe it would be pretty strong.
Unholy really isn’t OP in practice. People are just losing their minds over its damage because all they’ve seen so far are fights that end before its strongest cooldowns drop off. Of course it’s going to have monstrous damage output when boss fights end while army is still on the field and trash pulls can be completed before DT ends.
Not to imply it isn’t extremely powerful, of course. Unholy has some wild burst potential, and its AoE is definitely up there (but still not the strongest amongst all classes/specs as some people have posited). It’s in a great place, so I’m hopeful Blizzard will just prop Frost up instead of kneecapping Unholy like they did the last time the disparity between the two was this large.
Mastery now affecting pets made a big difference for our single target. When it comes to AoE, we scale better than anyone else and generally have really strong AoE output.

I saw the new ones and thought for sure they were going to let 2Hers have two runes to compensate for dual wield getting two.
Then it didn’t happen and I was bummed out.
Even if you gave 2hs 2 runes 2H Frost still would never use the new runes. You basically just gave the new runes to Blood and UH as both 2 and 1h frost would use Fallen and Razorice.
Yeah, but I play Unholy lol, so that’s where my perspective comes from with regards to the NEW runes.
Frost would still benefit from being able to use two of the original ones though.
Still doesn’t fix the killing machine proc debacle though.
Uhh… none of the new runes are even remotely useful to Unholy. You still run Fallen Crusader at all times. Believe me, I’d love to be able to use Rune of Apocalypse - and I would, except it sucks.
I think you misunderstood me. I said that even given the option of having 2 runes, frost would still never use the new runes as they would 100% run both Fallen and Razor. There is no selection. I was just pointing out giving 2h two runes would give only UH and Blood choices in what they would run.
I am still so mad that all of these reroll “DKs” like Preacher complained in the beta about the opener being too busy that Blizzard just took Gargoyle away. Agree 100%, make it baseline for Unholy.
Do you see UB/CS being useful in M+ in Shadowlands instead of the wound build? I pug exclusively and hate my output being tied to tanks that have happy feet.
My gut tells me that for any real damage I will need to play Bursting again.
Deaths due isn’t even good for unholy anymore. Abom limb gets my tunes back and does way way more damage now.
It’s too busy and gargoyle is a waste. I’ve played DK since cataclysm. It’s been unfun after they removed the arbiter build that you could play in Legion
Well, considering Abom’s Limb always does scale very well with mastery along with 2 minute burst damage with a potency conduit actually works…
… compared to a constant Death and Decay with a consistent 8% strength that needs at leasts 2 GCDs using SS to maintain it from the beginning and the end with a potency conduit that doesn’t work with Defile.
Of course you would pick Abom’s Limb. I don’t blame people for picking Necrolords as a DK.
