Anyone using action targeting?

If you don’t know what it is, it’s a new setting you can enable to make it so you’ll automatically soft target anything in front of you, and you can hard target something you’re locked onto with tab, and then cycle enemies the normal way.

I’ve been using it on my evoker, because coming from melee it’s awkward to need to continually retarget things when something dies. While melee abilities always target soemthing else in front of you.

It’s kinda nice. I like it for when i’m aoeing a trash pack and my target dies mid rotation, or just books it off into narnia and out of range. Just automatically targets the next thing in my field of view.

What i don’t like about it is how it’s always on, wish i could toggle it to only be on in-combat, and only target things i’m in combat with. But that’s about it, it’s been a real quality of life boost for a caster dps.

I like it to, but like you said, I wish it wasn’t on all the time. I wish it was turn off until you got in to combat , then it turn on.

was not expecting this thread to gain traction after a year

i shall try it in bgs and return with news.

I use it.

Here’s the deal.

If you’re melee, and walk up to two mobs, click one, and start spamming “ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK”, the mob dies, and you automatically switch over to the mob standing next to you.

Now, if you’re ranged, in the same situation, casting a spell, and the mob dies, the target does NOT automatically switch. You have to click on the new target.

With “action targeting” it now works for casters. This is important, particularly in todays game play of murderballs and mass AOE. When the group descends on a blob of trash, I can spam Incinerate all day long and not worry that my target dies. It’ll auto switch to something else.

Every now and then, I mistarget and pull something I didn’t intend. But the benefits for me far outweigh those minor events. I just be more careful of my background and such during M+ runs.

When I ran it on my Evoker, I had problems with it. I didn’t find it worked well with the Evoker, but I can’t say in detail. I don’t play him any more.

But for Piddy, and my other casters, you bet. Works great for me.
