I don’t want WOW 2 to happen unless it’s a completely new game, new timeline, totally new main characters, completely different races and classes, and maybe even different tone/mood of story.
Otherwise there would be 0 point of having a WOW 2.
Blizz could work on 2 MMOs instead of 1 because no way i am going to recollect all my mounts etc, and i’ve only played for 7 months, imagine those who have been playing for 10-20 years.
Since it’s Blizzard i really doubt WOW 2 will just be another mmo in the market, those fanboys will flock to it.

No. Less than zero chance, in that I believe any studio or even internal team angling for the project would be shot down vehemently.
Lots of mmos are better games than wow. But even the best go belly up because you can’t compete with 20 years of nostalgia. It doesn’t matter how good a WoW2 is at all. It could objectively be the best mmo ever made and it would be a huge flop and downsized by the end of the fiscal year.
WOW 2 has already happened. It’s been a slow process of destroying WOW’s identity, but they succeeded. The turning point for WOW 2 happened when they removed the RPG from MMORPG by introducing seasons, making the entire world scale to you so you never feel the power curve and introduced timed content destroying dungeon crawling.
Once upon a time i thought they would, but i doubt it at this stage, they seem to be pretty content with the current business model of churning out expansions (some hits, some misses) and cranking up the microtransaction income stream as time goes on.
I wish they would though, and before anyone whines about the art style or whatever, a new engine does not necessarily mean going in a different direction with the look of the game, they could still do the cartoonish look, but with a new engine that doesn’t have 30 year old bones lol
With as much money as WoW has made, I guarantee there will be a WoW 2. The investors and bean counters will make sure of it. I doubt that’s going to happen any time soon though because if they took away everyone’s characters and collections and made them start from scratch, they would lose the entire base of subscribers overnight.
If “wow 2” happens it will be in a form of an extension of classic content for those people. Current wow still makes them too much money to even think about making another MMO
