Just curious, cause that sounds like a terrible idea to me.
Do what’s fun.
how important is engineering really
I’ll be going Alch & Herb.
I plan on raiding without Engineering.
This is a level of min/maxing that’s not really needed to insist that the entire raid have Engineering.
Why would i need engineering for raiding… PVP sure, but raiding? Am I missing something?
I am choosing alch over engineering on my priest. LIP,FAP,LAP and elixir of poison resistance are so much more important to me as a healer than iron grenades. If I had time like when I was a kid I’d go both though. On my warlock on alliance I’ll be engineering, since it’s practically necessity to do well in PvP with it.
Goblin Sapper Charges can do solid AoE damage(and usable as a Gnomish Engineer), and stuff like the Battlechicken offering a 5% haste buff to everybody in your party.
It’s one of those things that’s technically the best, but much like how Human is technically the best for melee it’s not like you can’t compete having something else.
Engi and Alchy are the only two fun professions. Others are for money making and gearing.
I don’t care about the edge, but I love engineering. So much fun with the gadgets and stuff like the snowball machine.
Sappers on bosses. 30+ going off at once can nuke down trash packs.
I feel like my character is gimp anytime I don’t have goblin sapper charges
You know that phase in the Nefarian fight where all of the drakonids get back up as zombies, and there are like 42 of them making a beeline for your raid? Rather than gathering them up and potentially having aggro go wild with blizzard and cleave spam, why not just bunch them up on a couple of restobears or off-tanks and have half the raid pop a sapper charge?
You can use this strategy in pretty much every raid. Trash, bosses, raid groups from the opposite faction. It’s essentially instant death.
Exactly this.
Engineering is the only profession that you need to have to benefit from it. Every other profession you can just buy their services.
As a personal recommendation for people I’d suggest splitting your secondary professions between your alts. If you want to do Alchemy have engi/alch on one, and engi/herb on the other.
This goes triple if you plan to PvP. In an equally skilled fight you will get stomped if you don’t have engi and they do. It’s arguably even more important for Alliance Locks/Warlocks/Warriors due to already losing out on the fear vs undead racial matchup.
I’m not saying don’t go herb/alch… just be smart about it and split it over 2 characters. Or make friends and split up the mining/bc, tailor/enchanting, skinning/LW duties.
My guild will require at least all melee to have eng, as it will be pretty important to help clear trash early on.
Yeh MC trash with melee without engi feels terrible. Can add an hour + to your runs and a ton of repair bills.
^This.
But that goes without saying.
You’d be surprised man. People get ragey when you won’t take their engi-less feral cat into a MC raid. I mean taking the feral cat at all is basically throwing them a bone, lol.
Thats okay, just not in my guild.
We don’t take meme specs.
To be fair I am considering a Dwarf/Gnome only guild though.
Not sure why but I always liked a mix of raiding/PvP and lite-rp.
