Remember being told why we didn’t have flying at the start of expansions?
That they wanted us to ‘experience’ the world/maps before we started just zooming over it.
So now we have dragonriding and what are we doing? Zooming all over the place on our proto-drake and not experiencing the world.
Edit: Sorry if everyone sort of missed it, but I was being sarcastic. You know putting a bit of humor into the forum. Do I have to use a /sarcasm tag next time?

Yes, this is a good direction. Glad they moved from that archaic principle. I experience the world when I land for herbs.

Maybe you aren’t, but the way waking shores was designed feels great to zoom and swoop all over it.

I experience the world alright. Most of the time it is when my dragon flies right into a tree when I am trying to do a flying race.
But I have to admit they are fun. Annoying as well but fun.

What do you mean experience the world?
I can’t see diddly dink going mach 5

I’m doing the races which weave in and out of all kinds of things in the world, so I’m definitely seeing the world. If I don’t, I faceplant into the world and lose my race.

I had to travel all over the zones to collect the glyphs so I dunno what you’re on about tbh.

I don’t think theres much Blizzard can do to people pushing to finish content asap.

Oh! This too! The races just come first to mind for me because I can start to goof with one… then just once more… nope, I snagged on a branch, I can do better… okay, really REALLY just once more… no, that one didn’t count, now this is really the last try…
And the next thing I know an hour is past.
I want to get all the gold medals just to say I did. It feels do-able.

sometimes they ought to just keep there mouth shut it always bites them in the butt. i actually took the time to read quests and watch cinematics and been rolling on the ground alot i’m in no hurry to get bored.

Yes but that restriction went out the window when Blizzard’s design decisions for the past 2 expansions caused millions of sub losses.
Now it’s “Plz for the love of GOD just exist in our open world and stop unsubbing!”

Always hated that argument, when I’m on a ground mount I’m just staring at the road trying not to be annoyed by random quest mobs, on a flying mount i fly through zones just to see how cool they look, cant really tell you much about all the pathfinder zones from older expansions but ive explored every inch of the dragon isles. The convinience and speed of dragon riding has also made me take up mining, which i would normally never do even with regular flying.

Yup I get your point but we are experiencing the world.
Problem is they were stubborn and lying.
We’ll get a new zone in 10.1 or .2 or w.e and we’ll get a small zone with lots of things to annoy us and by the end they’ll forget the things they learned.
Cause honestly [just 'cause of dragonriding] is not an excuse to just make big zones. This brings the world alive. This kinda flying is a good direction to bring that fantasy back into enjoying those zones.
If someone wants to trek through, sure… but let flying be a thing and this is a good way. OR at the very least, a start.

They improved quests design abit so you see a fair chunk of it.
Or when you run out of vigor and are left bunnyhopping around on the ground.

Speak for yourself. I’ve caught myself on several occasions already just nyooming around everywhere with literally no objective besides for the fun of it

I
I totally am though.
I am taking all the dragon riding tours, and travelling to even the most remote places of the map, because I can. I am zooming all over, and taking in all the scenery as I go along. It’s been amazing.

This. I am a mere level 67.
If on MG and you see a ne hunter still riding her ground mount sometimes might be me. sometimes I slow boat it as there some nice vista’s in this here game.
at level 70 I am going to get my teeth kicked in at pvp. that can be tonight if I get a good tailwind. sunday or even monday lol. No need to rush to the eternal cycle of getting the crap beat of a fresh level cap.

Im still 65, but i do a lot during the day. Today i only played for maybe 2 hours, but i like that a lot. Im reading every piece of text, all the dialog options, picking herbs here and there. Slow and steady, scenic routes. The world is so alive, it’d be a shame to not soak it in.
I havent even seen the capital city! Hopefully tommorow.

Sorry to all those who missed the implied sarcasm in my posts.
But thanks to everyone who replied and gave their insights and enjoyment of this expansion.
And yes, I have nosedived into more than my share of trees too while zooming around.
