Anyone noticing any big dps differences between Slayer & Mountain Thane? (Beta) (Fury)

Let me start by saying I am a casual player here an just noting my beta experience and seeing if anyone else is noticing the same. So I grabbed the T4 set, the 2H Higher ilvl spear, 2 trinkets and 1 neck and ring. the rest are ilvl 571 beta greens.

On 2 min Oggrimar raid test dummy fights using details dps meter, I am hitting consistent 80-87mill damage on Slayer with a wide variety of different talents, while thane is at a consistent 56-65mill. On follower dungeons with slayer I am at 300-400kdps slow damage with no cool downs used and just rotation. With meat cleaver we are anywhere from 400-700kdps depending on procs and how long the mobs lived. With bladestorm, and other cooldowns used along with meat cleaver its an easy 1.5milldps+

With Mountain Thane and Meat Cleaver Talented the rotation is easier for AOE, but the DPS is around the same to even lower when I am using ravager or bladestorm, and odyns fury compared to slayer. During boss fights slayer just out right dominates for me.

That being said, is anyone else seeing similar results with slayer coming out on top in almost if not all categories? I feel like Thane needs some damage buffs to keep up with slayer, especially when them execute procs go off and blade storm is hitting like a mac truck.

I am posting, because I am not that Elite 1% gamer at all, and maybe I am not playing to full potential, and want to see if anyone else is noticing the disparity in beta. I have done my share of Heroic Raids in Shadowlands and got a few keystone masteries on other chars and have played wow since TBC, but nothing crazy notable in DF as I skipped it until season 4.

I have been looking up forum posts and you tube videos, and I can’t really find anyone doing dungeon dps or raid dummy tests within this past few weeks. I just started playing the beta, so I don’t know what buffs or nerfs have happened in the past month as well. If anyone has recommendations on who to follow, I would be very grateful. Icyveins and wowhead probably won’t be posting builds for us until TWW actually goes live, so I was curious if anyone else was noticing what I was on the dps meters, or if I just need to get good lol. If people are seeing the same thing consistently in beta that I am, maybe thane for fury needs a tad bit more damage compared to slayer.

After the most recent tuning, Slayer is significantly ahead in single target.

In sustained multitarget, they’re performance is surprisingly similar, though Slayer is much burstier and provides more priority damage, which will likely make it better suited for raid encounters, while Thane is doing more 5target damage through Thunder Clap/Blast

So really, Thane just needs a large single target buff to bring it up on par with Slayer.

Thank you for your reply! It is good to see what other people are noticing and compare data. I have been doing my best to read through the feedback posts, but most talking about slayer and thane are much older posts. You literally hit the nail on the head on what I was experiencing. If the aoe is sustained Thane is doing great, but Slayer even still seems to keep up, especially with well timed WW’s from meat cleaver. I felt the exact same that Thane needs that large single target buff and it is right on par, because it feels underwhelming right now in comparison to slayer, especially when you get them execute procs. That being said, both feel extremely smooth to use.

The feedback forums unfortunately aren’t the best place for detailed analysis, but it is something that gets discussed at length elsewhere in the community.

Suffice to say, tuning still feels far from complete though, so I think it very likely we’ll see further adjustments as time goes on. That doesn’t mean they’ll get it perfect - WoW has too many moving parts to ever really be “perfect” enough for anyone’s liking, but we do still have ~5 weeks before the start of Season 1.
