Doesn’t really help when all previous expansions are treated like a patchwork that you can play however you want. That’s not how you build a story. Players are basically allowed to jump from one random story point to the next. From a story perspective, it’s a disaster, but well, WoW is an MMO first and an RPG second. With FF14, it’s the opposite.
Blizzard doesn’t have any desire to fix this, they will continue to pump out new expansions that are focused on grinding a minimal amount of repetitive content.
The word/phase you want is: “Theme Park.” WoW expansions are theme parks. The sole exception may be Cata.
“Come at look at all the cool things!” works well. But you’re privy to the general format. So you get tired from it more quickly.
I think its great but im okay with others disagreeing.
Unless they say oribos was better. Then were going to have a fight on our hands haha
Lol Oribos – the worst, hands down.
Yes, as I said, WoW is an MMO first, and it has pretty much always been that way when you look at all the plot holes and retcons. They just bend the story however they want, whether it makes sense or not. The devs’ focus is clearly more on endgame and ways to keep players engaged through grinds and FOMO.
Yep, pretty much.
Super meh
It’s driven by guys staring at metrics and spreadsheets, through and through
I doubt wow by devs that wanna deliver fun will ever come back
It’s all about manipulating the ‘consumer blob’
Any dev worth his salt is at IP’s that are going up instead of being cannibalized against the playerbase
The whole game is a themepark. Sorry if you were impressed by the size of Kalimdor lol, it’s still about 50,000 times smaller than a real continent. And no I’m not doing the math to see if that’s a good number to go with lol, you get my point
i have no idea about the TWW cities but i liked oribos more than valdrakken. oribos performed great but valdrakken tanks my fps past where my gsync is comfortable operating.
i prefer good performance over a cute open world city with too much going on and choppy frames.
I cant make one good comment about oribos.
But tbh i was never a fan of valdrakken myself.
Then you don’t understand how “theme park” is used here.
A theme park is a place with unifying idea or setting. Each expansion is just a theme park built up only to be forgotten when the next cool theme park is made.
The average player doesn’t spend their time in Shattrah or (old) Dalaran. The old theme parks are old and lame now. They sit in Valdrakken, the current theme park. And the next expansion will have Valdrakken be a ghost town too.
Expansions have no staying power. They’re meant to be forgotten. As such, why be hyped excited over things designed to be forgotten?
Yes. Valdrakken was worse than Oribos. Oribos may have been a confusing circular airport but at least it wasnt lame like valdrakken was.
This is how I and many of my Friends / Guildies feel. Just Meh. Normally I watch the trailer and get really hyped, like let’s go log on etc. TWW one was just odd and didn’t give me any Wow Vibes.
Also many of the M+ changes suck, like Stop’s, melee range etc etc. So yeah, season 5 here we come.
What’s the new Shiny thing on the wrapper? Delves, warbank, another Dwarf race and more talents? They can call them “Hero” talents whatever, there just more talents as we lvl to 80. /rolleyes
oh no… im already getting slightly aggravated with the tanks that move so much all the time and now it’s gonna get worse? damnit lol
I am still not 100% sold on DF.
I am sure I will eventually buy it and find a cute mount like Pattie to hunt down.
Less than 24 hours to go and I am not super hyped. I suspect it will be fun. I’ve found fun in all the expansions. Even the worst expansion so far in my opinion, Cataclysm. Just different levels of engagement and enthusiam.
Anyone meh about next xpac?
Very much so…until I hear a lot of cheering in here soon, Im probably not buying TWW, at least until catch up gear is out.
I’m excited to get instant Immolate and Mage plays very fun for me rn. So I guess I’m just really excited to play them with all their hero talent points.
It’s possible to enjoy things when they are the current thing?
Were the Olympics worth watching when they’ll just have another one 4 years from now in a different city?

Am I the only one not that excited about launch?
Nope.
