Anyone know of a working Reckoning counter for Paladins in Classic?

I’ve looked and looked and cant find a working Reckoning counter anywhere. Ive tried making one with Weak Auras and TellMeWhen, but I’ve not had any luck…
I’d really love to know when Reckoning actually procs off a critical hit as it doesn’t always proc even thought it says it has a 100% chance to. Ive noticed It needs to meet certain circumstances in order to gain a stack off a critical hit and I’m always left wondering if I actually gained a Reck proc that I can use…

So anyone know of a working Reck Stack Addon?
Thanks.

Are you aware of the mechanics behind reckoning in classic? I am not a pally main myself but i play with one who uses a reckoning build. As i understand it, reckoning will not build stacks in classic unless you are not “attacking” the target (i.e. auto attacking). Instead if you are auto attacking your swing timer is instantly reset no matter where you are in your swing timer. This is quite a nerf to reckoning as it can proc when you have 0.2 sec left on your next swing effectively making you miss your auto attack anyway. However, some smart pallies figured out that if you proc reckoning while YOU ARE NOT AUTO-ATTACKING, reckoning will stack, causing your next swing to include the auto attack and any reckoning charges you have accumulated (provided you have waited for your normal swing timer to reset).

To counter this, pallies have been using /startattack, /stopattack macros. This gives you manual control over your auto attack swings. So you can build charges and then unleash them in either a big burst or spam them out as fast attacks against fast attacking opponents.

If you are trying to “force” procs by using a sit/stand macro. You need to stand in the same batch as you are being attacked in order to 100% gain the proc . This can be very difficult in a pvp situation but is easily abusable on mobs with a bit of practice.

I know this didnt help with your original question of a way to track reckoning stacks (i believe there are quite a few people still working on it). The way my friend has been tracking them is by having his combat log open at all times. Since the combat log will show him when a reckoning stack has occured. Once he has accumulated enough stacks he will unleash them manually using the start/stop attack macro.

That’s what Ive been trying to do, yea. My problem is just not knowing if I’ve gained a stack till I’ve already used it. For whatever reason my combat log mentions nothing about reckoning when I know when it should have proc’d and because of all the little nuances you mentioned it’s kind of just a guessing game for me making it hard for me to try to figure out what I need to do to try to force out procs and to be confident I actually have them so I can use them when I need to.

Are you playing with the Redoubt talent? Both effects should occur when a melee critical has occured. I often use that as a visual/audible que for when a proc should occur.

I am. However it’s not 100% guaranteed to to proc when Redoubt does. You can pretty much count on it during combat, but if you’re trying to force it to happen there’s still a chance it might not. I’ve had Redoubt proc multiple times in a row while trying to force Reckoning to and when going to test if it did, I found out it either it hadn’t proc’d or something else I’m unaware of caused it not to.

Goto Combat Log Chat Settings > Message Types > Spells > and check the box that shows extra attacks. Use WeakAuras or something to detect that event.

Thanks. I was wondering how to make it show up. unfortunately I’m still not able to get anything to detect that event. zzz
At least I can see it in the combat log now though.
