I think I could justify paying $2,800 a month for a house that big.
I live 1.5 miles from work because I’m not someone who likes to drive. It allows me to own a gas guzzling 2010 F150 Platinum with 76k miles that gets around 6mpg in town. I only have to fill-up the 35 gallon tank about once a month.
I could’ve saved a little, but also had a lot more overall property if I bought a house 10 miles or so outside of the city limits. The lack of convenience and utilities is why I didn’t go that route though. My wife still disagrees with me to this day, but her sister has a farm we visit often enough.
- Side note: Windmills take a lot away from country living with the airport style flashing lights all night long. Residents get the eyesore, while someone living elsewhere is making bank.
I own a 1,450 Sq ft, 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath ranch with an attached garage on 1/3 acre for about $700 a month including taxes and insurance. I had a mortgage until earlier this year until I transferred it to a home equity loan.
I can’t speak highly enough about doing this once your equity reaches over 50% of the property appraisal value. Then you can get a standard loan using your home equity as collateral.
I shaved 7 years of pure interest off my loan and my monthly payment is slightly less than I was paying before. The banks will never tell you about this option.
Been back a few weeks now, what’s up?
I haven’t really run into anyone from CO in game. I feel we’re underrepresented.
Is this your alt? Just want a heads up so I know who I am responding too.
This is the only character I’ve ever used on these forums, but hello to you too!
Heyyyyyyyyy!!! That’s so cool. I’m glad you shared that. hahha
You know, the thing I remember most about those big beautiful potatoes and onions I used to pick up from southern CO was thinking ‘man, Idaho ain’t got NOTHIN’ on Colorado!’

Being from Idaho originally I kind of resent that remark. But what the hell, there is more to life then potatos
I don’t take it personally, I lived in Colorado for 8 years, have an ex there. Spent my childhood in Idaho but have lived all over the US during my lifetime. The only state I really hated was Georgia. But that is another topic. Colorado is a beautiful state that I really loved while I was there. Just haven’t made it back there in quite some time.

Just outside Denver myself. I agree that the cost of living is crazy. Bought a house last year with a full separate basement that I rent out to help with the mortgage.
This winter has been pretty dry, which makes me worry about water for the summer, but I’m glad we don’t have the fires/floods/tornadoes/hurricanes that other parts of the country have.

Bozeman is pretty awesome, not a fan of Salt Lake though. I’m in Boise, ID.

LOL! So true. There was a potato chip company that was based there. The owner’s wife was my third grade home room teacher - she often brought hot, fresh potato chips to us as a treat. They were amazing.

lived in Boise for a couple of years before I got married for the 3rd time and moved to Wyoming. Grew up in a small town in Idaho called Heyburn
Tahoe has had a record 200" of snow this month and California got 17 FEET of it in the mountains. Here in Denver we’re lookin at 4-8" Friday. Slow start but not something anyone would call unprecedented climate change.
Considering the forecasters have a tough time predicting what’s going to happen tomorrow I don’t have a lot of faith in climatologists predictions for 10 or 20 years from now.
