As in the video completely DC but you are able to see the chat still function in real time?
I’ve seen it where it’s totally lagged out, nothing moving etc but the chat works. I’ve never seen it with a black screen though. When I’ve seen it it’s been the whole server/zone.

This happens when you have internet problems. The chat server is much more sturdy than the actual game so it’ll remain active while the client is desynced. So you are lagged out but chat still works. Best thing to do is alt f4 and boot a new client, but so long as there’s packet loss, it’s going to keep happening.

I haven’t had connection issues, but the game has been laggy as hell lately.
Chat client and game client are not the same server. So you can lag out of the game client but your chat works fine. Thats why you see all the “LAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGG” posts when the server is dying.
I have had that happen a few times in the past. I have even been trapped in a void where nothing is moving and I can run anywhere I want (well after I hard boot it I am sent to my death) I can see other people chat but I can’t respond and no matter how long I wait I am not kicked off.
That one time I decided I would wait until my connection came back. I got up and went to do other things, came back an hour later and was still lagged out underwater, alive. Weird things happen when you are in a lag void.
