Anyone else use mounts that are easy to get around with?

As much as I loooove collecting mounts, I always wind up going back to certain mounts with skeletons/models that don’t get in the way of travel. Anyone else do that?

For instance, tall ground mounts are an instant no since they prevent me from walking through most doors while mounted. These would include Clefthoofs for example. Mounts which don’t seem to “jump” well I also avoid. Idk if it’s just a mental block for me or some mounts actually do jump poorly, but I have a much harder time getting places using a moose than a wolf.

Normally for ground mounts I wind up coming back to my falcosaur mounts from Legion as the raptor models just seem to move so well.

For flying mounts, with very few exceptions (notably the shaman class mount since it’s just amazing) I cannot stand ones that do not have a walking animation. It is not obvious when I’m on the ground or not. The worst offenders are any of the mounts that use the cloud Serpent model from MoP.

My most consistent flying mount is Kua’fon as I don’t have an issue getting around with it and entering doors. Also, love using it on Alliance.

Anyone else pick their mounts for their ease of movement over looks on occassion?

I hate big dragon like mounts. Most of my characters use either the flying moon kitty, hippogryphs, Tyrael’s Charger, or small class mounts.

All the time!
I, too, avoid tall ground mounts and flying mounts where you can’t tell if you’re standing on the ground or not.
Another thing I tend to avoid is any mounts that leave a trail as they move. At certain camera angles these trails feel like they are flying into my face. This is a bigger problem when flying, so I’m less likely to avoid ground-only mounts that do this.
I almost bought the Windsteed goat-thing from the Blizzard Store during the sale when it was the last chance to get it. I’m very glad I checked whether it had a trail first!

EDIT: Seeing Jerauld’s post reminded me: I also tend to avoid flying mounts with very large wingspan, mainly because I spend most of my flying time with the camera just behind my character, and I enjoy seeing my entire mount.

They don’t even have to be that tall… My troll can’t get through some doors on a Venomhide Ravasaur, and my poor Taurens can’t get through ANY door (even in their own city) on any mount at all. It’s one reason I wish I had the rocket, it flies low enough that even Taurens can get through doors with it and not sit there awkwardly banging against the lintel.

Yes.

Especially in BGs. I hate people that use a drake as a ground mount in BGs.

I always use my Swift Zhevra. I love that little fella.
Outside of BGs, Chopper for LIFE. Still one of the best mounts in the game.

For flying, I tend to not care, and roll one from my favorites list.

I usually use what ever mount I’m in the mood for. Normally I don’t like using mounts that can’t walk as ground mounts like Cloud Serpents. Just never have been a fan of a mount floating while I’m moving along the ground. I guess I’m the odd one as I like my tall mounts like Ironhoof Destroyer.

Which one?

Kyparium and Geosynchronous are relatevily easy to farm and craft, no need to suffer RNG getting the Love one.

Honestly for all my toons I usually use the Hearthmount. Sure it’s a horse. But it is a blue flamey horse. It flies and doesn’t get stuck on most door jams. Unlike say my Draen Paladin’s divine Elak.

I have a gnome alt. She uses the largest mounts I’ve got in my collection.

She’s also a DK with a scarlet crusade tabard and a huge sword. I kinda went all in on the contradictions with her.

Aside from her, I just pick mounts that fit the character. I’m not fond of the huge mounts normally, so I have a lot of small to mid sized mounts in rotation.

I’ve got plans for the kyparium, the price tag is daunting however. The rocket I had in mind was the two-person Refer a Friend rocket that isn’t available anymore, but almost all of my friends have. I have the Darkmoon rocket, but isn’t that tall all on its own?

Ah, yes that one is very handy I must admit. However, I am sure they will come back, they almost always do. I know now there’s a weird method to the RAF program, but we’ll see.

And yes the Darkmoon is tall and fat. Not a good combo with Tauren.

I have the Kyparium, it’s a good option. You could also try Mimiron’s Head or Mogul-MK2. Those are very small and tight too.

I use mounts with interesting backgrounds, like class mounts/kuafon

Everything else feels like something I just picked up somewhere

each toon has a different ground and flying mount they default to for me :zipper_mouth_face:

For my priestly here, the Mystic Runesaber when im on the ground, and the violet spellwing when im gonna fly.

Ah, MImiron’s…I really must get back to running that dungeon over and over in hopes of the mount…

I use the leyfeather hippogryph mostly because it’s my fave, but while on the subject…it’s also great, because it’s not too big, runs great on ground and can be a flight mount in a moments notice.

I do use other mounts for other’s I feel are better suited for them [ie dk has invincible], but normally they are around the same lines…something smaller, can run on ground, as well as fly.

Lastly, I have my random mount key for just when I feel like spicing things up…those can be all over the place, because sometimes pandas just like to have fun.

Yeah, I use the monk disc from MOP on most chars. On my mage, I use the class mount (a more thematic disc).

I do!

I really really like the Vile Fiend model but it doesn’t go through doors.

The Pandaran Serpent Dragon is also really good but I can never tell where the “center” is and get stuck on nonsense all the time.

The Flying Cloud looks really good for Bloodelf and Voidelf (that sneaky crouching) but it dismounts me if I go in water. In BG’s that’s too annoying to deal with.

Depends. If I am farming ore or herbs I like to use the sky golem, the red cloud or some other equally compact flier.

If I am questing or just traveling then I am using dragons. I love my dragons.

My absolute favorite mount is the Druid’s flight form (basic one, not the giant owl). Next to that I always pick smaller mounts: Flameward Hippogryph, Warlock horses, Obsidian Nightwing, etc.
I have some pretty rare ones like the Astral Cloud Serpent or the green infernal from Gul’dan but they’re obstruct half the screen and that’s a big no for me.

My preferred mounts are as low-profile as possible.

On my mage the flying disk is, basically, the only one I use in the air. The RAF Obsidian Nightwing is what I use on the ground because it’s literally just the cat mount but no rider (plus I can carry a rider in a group).

The big dragons and stuff that takes up a huge amount of screen real estate, though, drives me bonkers. I watch people flying around on them and have no actual idea how they can stand it.

Edit:

Also no mounts with saddle-couches that flap up and down. The cat from the Suramar quest line? Bobs up and down like it’s trying to throw me off. Priest class mount? Same.
