Anyone else think that Sylvanas got a raw deal?

She was going along fine until Arthas raised has a banshee. Under his control she did things that condemned her to the maw. She stuck around long enough to see the lich king destroyed and then fell to her death.

And the reward was the maw. Until that point, she had done nothing wrong of her own volition and yet she was to be punished for an eternity.

given that unjustice, and the alternative, would any of us done any differently?

I’m pretty sure “try to make amends in the hopes of a more favorable afterlife next time” is a much better alternative than “well I’m already in the hole, might as well keep digging and see what else I can find”

I find weird that Garrosh or Arthas got a better deal than her, more reasons to feel Sylvanas story forced. :sleepy:

There was no way for her to make amends. She was being punished for eternity in the maw, tortured. The jailor pulled her out and said “I have a way to make things just, work with me and we can set this right, or you can go back to eternal suffering”

Are you saying you’d turn that down?

As much as I love Sylvanas and she’s my queen, she did things of her own volition. Yes, she was under control of Arthas for a time. But, once she broke free, despite her spirit being split, she acted of her own accord. No one forced her to do anything.

She’s not the only one, yet shes the only one who got to live

Yes, but until the fall of Arthas she hadn’t done anything wrong of her own volition, the things things he did wrong came after her judgment for eternal torture.

She was a bitter person who didn’t care about who she trampled in order to get her revenge. People died because of her. People died when they got in her way. Her way of thinking was flawed and arrogant. That’s pretty sh**y, in my opinion.

EDIT:

Yeah, she kinda did lol

Perhaps, but worthy of eternal suffering?

Can’t forget how she killed her own people when they went against her and planned on testing plague on her allies

No. She got off easy. She should have died in the raid, actually had her soul sent to the maw, and then destroyed completely in a second raid. She sucks, she attmpted multiple genocides, and got FAR less than she deserved. I hope she stays there, and doesn’t come back. no more banshee waifu content, please.

A few things to clear up here:

Sylvanas was never judged for actions her body took that were not under her control. She felt immense guilt for it regardless, but for instance slaughtering her countrymen as Arthas’ newest banshee is not something that the Arbiter, Tyrande, or even her former friends (the direct victims of that assault) ever blamed her for.

She WAS blamed for actions she took voluntarily AFTER Arthas lost control over her. She was still a banshee at this point, and her soul was still sundered, but every action she took at that point she choose on her own. This included the blight, it included the fourth war, it included Teledrassil, and it included working with the Jailor to condemn millions of innocent souls to the Maw.

These are the crimes that she was judged for. And while her life’s (death’s?) story is a tragic one and while she had lost a significant part of herself, she still bears full responsibility for all of it. A major part of her conversations with Uther during the last patch is that both the Ranger General and the Banshee Queen are Sylvanas and she cannot use either as an excuse for what she did.

The stories in this game never fail, they always are a disappointment.

Again, your mixing things up. She was already condemned before she started working for the jailor. You can’t count any of those things a reason to subject her to eternal torture since she already received that judgment. Basically, everything up to the fall of Arthas. Nothing after.

I’ve got my copy of Sylvanas over here ready to go my dude. You wanna give me a page number to flip to? Because I don’t believe that you’re correct.

I’d say leave her fate up to the fans, who’d likely decide to have her executed, body up strung up somewhere in Oribus as a reminder of the bad faith Blizzard has fostered between the fans and their at all costs fanfiction.

I haven’t read the book, only know what I saw in game. IIRC , and maybe not, but after Arthas was defeated she basically threw herself off Icecrown to fell to her death. It was at that point she was judged.

I wish I could give Sylvanas a raw deal.

With that logic any serial killer that escapes prison is OK to keep murdering because “they already received a judgment”.

The story has been retconned and rewritten so many times and in such a hamfisted way that I don’t even really care anymore.

Quite frankly, it no longer matters.
