I’m not (and have never been) a person who chased FOTM, so the relative power (within a few percentage points) doesn’t matter to me.
Right now, I’m trying to decide between several classes to main on Tuesday:
-
Female dwarf enhancement shaman. Shammy is pretty new to me (sorta - I mean, I mained a resto shaman for a while in vanilla; but the ‘new’ enhancement is definitely fresh [for everyone]). Having said that, I’m not in love with any of the shaman races (my female dwarf is cute, but I’m not ‘feeling it’ with her), and I find their weapon selection insultingly limited (I don’t know of any class/spec, with the exception of BM/MM hunters, who are limited to just 3 weapon types). The constant stream of lightning is very cool and enjoyable, although the hitbox feels small to me (maybe I’m imagining it).
-
Female void elf marksman hunter. She’s really cool looking, very strong, but kind of boring to play. I like that she fits very well with the night fae aesthetic, which is the convenant I had hoped to join with whatever my main turns out to be. Having said that, hunter overall just seems like such a mundane choice - very much a “not the lead” kind of class (not that that doesn’t have a certain appeal to it, but I digress…).
-
Male human frost DK. Eh. I’ve mained DK in so, so many expansions, and I’m kind of loathe to repeat the same process again. Don’t get me wrong - this is a DK-heavy expansion, and I will definitely be leveling this one at some point to make a venthyr loyalist. But I’d be hard to pressed to go all-in on the class (especially since SO MANY people seem to be defaulting to Death Knight in SL).
And then there are a bunch of ‘probably not’ 50s I have sitting there (mage, paladin, warrior, rogue) that I don’t - as of right now - feel particularly strongly about. Not that any of the above should matter to anyone - I was more just asking: anyone else still fumbling with this choice at such a late hour?
I finally am not. I am fully confident in my choice on druid for the first time.
I’d say the best thing to do is just level them all and see what you stop keeping up with each week and that will decide who is voted off the island. Supposedly (idk I am new) keeping up alts is very easy in SL in terms of weekly commitments.

Can’t wait to see my boy garrosh and hopefully help him kill sylvannas.
I will be playing my tauren warrior that i have had since mid 2006 in shadowlands. No race changes or barber shop oddities or anything. just the same toon i have had all these years.

I would say for Shadowlands, yes. I have played this same druid since I started at the end of TBC. Never touched an alt until now.
I will more than likely keep playing this one because I enjoy it a lot but I do have a hunter alt and resto shaman alt that I will play with. I was having a hard time deciding to switch to a resto shaman though.
I just can’t wait until blizz adds a way to experience the old vanilla overworld as a part of chromie time. So i can run oldschool shadowfang keep if i want to with the worgens and archmage arugal in the retail game. And also oldschool barrens if i feel like questing there.
Shadowlands looks promising and i am hoping to see mankriks wife, arthas menethil, garrosh, and a slew of others. Kelthuzad. The list goes on. So much potential with this expansion.

Nope. Going blood Death Knight on each faction until I get tired of whiney DPS in dungeons.
I’m set on my Hunter but as far as covenants go i’m at the whims of hotfixes. Looks like i’m a furry now.
GOD yes, i’ve been switching between characters like CRAZY. talk about pre-expansion anxiety

Yes I certainly was, literally scouring my alts list trying to make up my mind. Decisions are hard with so many choices.
Made my decision now and I’ll be maining Balance druid and also gearing this up to be a DPS and an off-tank. I will have a Frost DK but it’s just there as a fun character.
As to yours I recommend either of the first two options and it looks like you have a leaning towards the Shammy already.

This guy probably for horde, with an orc rogue or warrior, maybe my goblin hunter. Then arcane mage and balance druid on alliance. Lots of mains I guess.
Yeah, I just wish she could use swords. Or even daggers. I mean, she can equip them, Blizzard…
Aye that would be pretty cool. Spellblade theme is tight.
I only had to think up my second character.
I finally decided on Katheryne.
I’ve decided to main a DK for the first time ever. It’s the closest thing to a battle mage that WoW has and I like all 3 specs. It has 2 roles which I really wanted and I have all the mage tower appearances.
At first I was planning to play my Druid again, I loved playing all 4 specs even though I didn’t like any particular one, it was the fact I could play them all that made me love Druid.
Covenants will make me spec-locked for a long time, and there are only 3 trees total. So I will never be able to switch between all 4 whenever I want. I don’t like the new Feral sounds or the new Eclipse mechanic so Druid is shelved for now.
My other choice was Warlock, I’ve played a Warlock for a really long time and I’ve just gotten too frustrated with the class. I know it’s a good class, don’t get me wrong, I am just tired of trash packs dying before I even get my rotation started.
I’m tired of playing a training dummy simulator in PvP. It doesn’t even matter if my team wins in the end, if it’s so unfun and frustrating.
That’s what keeps me coming back to DK, too - that whole “shooting ice with a sword” thing. The sound effects are very crisp, too.
