Mistweaver Monks are really good now, at least for Mythic plus. Most people don’t seem to realize this.
Getting invited to a group for Mythic plus takes an agonizingly long time compared to other healing classes. I’m convinced there is a layer of negativity associate with Mistweavers that no other healing class experiences.
My evoker healer is also 2500+ rating and she gets invited to groups almost instantly. I rarely have to apply to more than 5 or so groups to finally get an invite, whereas on my monk, I can easily go through 20-30 declines before finally getting accepted, if even at all.
As a test, me and my druid friend decided to conduct a little test. She’s a resto druid with 2218 Mythic+ rating. I’m a mistweaver monk with 2559 Mythic plus rating. We tried both applying to the same groups to see who would get taken first. We both have the same item level for reference.
After applying to the groups in question at the same exact time, we found that on 8 out of the 10 groups we conducted the test on, they took the druid over me. Even though she’s 1 item level below me and over 300 rating below me, they still wanted a druid over a monk.
To me that’s insane. I know druids are supposedly the top tier healer still, but they’re not like 5 or 10 times better than mistweavers, especially for keys in the 15-18 range.

I run my own keys 98% of the time so I never have to wait. On the off chance that I have to sign up for someone else’s key I bring my pocket tank along, 2 for 1 bonus.
I did have a group where a warrior said he wasn’t sure the run was gonna survive bc he heard MW was really bad and by the end I had changed his mind. He had no experience with a MW prior to that, only repeating what he heard. Unfortunately people hear so and so streamer say something or make a tier list (without actually playing each healer personally) and they think it’s gospel. So they don’t even give players a chance.
If you enjoy MW keep playing, run your own keys and screw what others think.

One reason for this that is outside of rating/ilvl is “utility”
And I don’t mean minor stuff like roar or anything but rather the larger items like brez or blood lust. In this case its brez
You might be a 30000000 IO MW, but you don’t have a brez in your kit so if that groups needs a brez, they find a brez

TBH I don’t push keys at all because of this problem. It just isn’t worth my time to sit in q this long. I’d rather have fun healing a lower key than waiting for that higher key. This is why I tend to play around in the low 20’s.

In all S1 of pugging I cant say that Ive ever been declined more than 2-4 times in a row before getting an invite/group. ( for 21’s and under )
20-30 declines seems like a huge amt but could be due to a lot of things:

Soothe/Tranq shot are huge this week. If they haven’t grabbed a DPS druid for soothe or hunter for tranq shot chances are that is what they are looking for in a healer for this week.

If they are lacking a b rez or a Lust person chances are they will be looking for those too. Druid bringing both a soothe and b rez is good for this week especially.

Youtubers/Streamers who dont really even play the spec as a main put us slightly lower on tier lists - then people who don’t even do world first or push high content ( where tier lists start to matter ) eat it up and regurgitate it without experience or knowledge of the spec. Those tier lists create bias/random hate towards non meta classes.

It’s also worth noting that it is end season and people just want the highest ilvl people they can get - most people are around 415 ish right now going into S2. They could be grabbing one of the other healers that queued up at the same time who has a higher Ilvl.
All that can be avoided by making your own groups though or bringing friends. Best bet is to make and push your own keys, or find guildies keys to run/push if you are getting declined that much.

I have to admit that this became a HUGE issue for me once I got in the range to do 20’s.
Up until 19’s I would wait longer but could still get into / put together a group. After that I pretty much could not get an invite at all. I couldn’t even really push my own key because there were literally people who would see I was a MW and leave. This made it take longer to fill and other people would leave in the meantime. I was spending literally 75% of my playtime looking for group.
As such I will probably just play this as an alt for this new season because my other character can get invited much quicker. It’s just not worth my time to basically log in to stand around.
(I am in a guild but they don’t always have people on who want to do M+ at the same time.)
Resto druid is mostly easy. But I imagine it also has to do with a lack of lust or brez…

This is exactly what it has to do with. Monk healing and damage is actually decent.
But as has already been stated in other threads - their lack of either bres, lust or any of the other 5 utilities that groups seek out keeps them off the invite list.
Half of it was MW being bad( early DF,MW was downright terrible , i wouldn’t even invite myself.)
After 10.7 MW is a gigablaster and its solely community perception and unfavorable party comps. Not enough utility sadly ,in a meta that has double paladin most of the time and expects lust from healers . Enha shamans are a rare commodity. Mages are not great, hunters are hunters. 2 many dungeons require a purge or dispel and melee interrupts due to cd.
Overall we are strong in m+, i would say high A tier but if we take into account favourable party comps we are lower C tier
My hopes lie atm into devoker being meta,since they are buffed to be monsters in both ST and AOE in the PTR, they bring all the utility we need to have in a grp and with rets/prots being meta we may actually have a shot . Lets see
Our Utility is actually solid, but no group utility makes us fall short of the meta monkey hive mind. Really hope they do some cool stuff with our statues, cause they all need a big buff. Some group utility options for some kind of “Inspiration” buff would be exactly what we need. All of our statues need reworked, AND we need some kind of group utility. Make it happen Blizz, we need some love as a class.

I’ve had no trouble so far, but I’m still doing little keys
S1 MW seems okay to me. But I think MWs have rerolled to better classes, I dont see them so far this week.
Plus this week affixes are storming and raging, so MW isn’t ideal to deal with the affixes on top of no dmg buff (mystic touch is a meme), no bres, no lust.
MW is underrated as ever for 5man content, I see. Would I love to see a brez, soothe, or lust? Sure. But 5% to physicals is not a meme and fw is a high damage high hps healer with some decent utility in rop, legsweep, and low cd kicks. Para if needed/taken for an extra stop.
Plus revival for aoe poison/magic/disease cleanse has been clutch several times already this season. Folks sleep on it.

So far, I still haven’t seen a single MW in my queue list. On the other hand, priest is everywhere for some reason.

I haven’t done any M+ yet as it’s been very busy IRL with summer vacation coming up for my kiddo, lots of end the school year events. Hopefully this week I’ll be able to jump into a few dungeons. I did do the first wing of LFR, hoping for an early tier piece and it felt really easy and comfortable to heal, but it’s LFR so

Its because Druids have a brez and do good healing.
I sit around now and then when I’m pugging, but not for long. The problem with mistweaver is how easy it is to play poorly compared to some other healers. You get a handful of folks who don’t know how to play it yet stinking up the joint and then add in we don’t have a brez or lust and folks just don’t want to gamble.
That said, we’re underrated (especially this season-- tons of fixates to rop and diseases etc to mass dispel plus heal number go brrrr) and I’m ok with that. I mostly run with a couple of guildies anyway.
