Seeing their very first glowing weapon by a high level and wonder how they got it?
I remember the first time I saw a glowing weapon, I will never forget…
I was doing a quest in Elwynn Forest, I believe it was the Gnoll mobs next to Hogger. I was being chased by a camp of them (got too close, damn aggro radius man)… I ran into what could only be described as an agricultural wasteland. I saw a rogue or was it a warrior farming mobs next to the tower near the southwest border of Westfall? Anyways, there it was those beautiful glowing fiery orange/red swords. I had to have them, I spent a good 15 minutes trying to follow him/her without dying, but I kept getting too close to the sneaky Defias mafia. I was so fascinated by the swords that I was desperate to learn how to get them.
It wasn’t until months later, after i learned it is obtained through enchanting and the name of it was called ‘Fiery Enchant’, that I was rich enough (10g lmao) to afford such a beautiful thing.
Needless to say, I was unable to afford my mount right at 40, LOL!
Also, I soon discovered what Crusader Enchant was once I entered my first BG. Lord, that was a whole 'nother story, and adventure.

I’ve never cared for glowing weapons in any game. I played Diablo 3 for a bit and would transmog the glowy/over the top weapons into the basic swords/daggers/etc

I did the same thing as you OP. The glows from vanilla enchants are the best thing. I remember leveling my first character, a hunter, i would always head back to IF after obtaining a new melee weapon while leveling just to get it enchanted. +2 beastslaying or +2beastslaying/weapon damage one if dual wielding.
When I found out the Icy Barbed Spear from the AV quest had a ‘permanent’ blue glow, I chose this reward over the xbow just because of how cool it looked.

I used to have my enchanter give away those glowing weapon enchants (what was it now, Minor Beastslayer?). It never hurt, and gave the lowbies a taste of class and a few extra hit points. Turns out there are all sorts of weapon glow enchants (do a search for "WoW glowing weapon enchant), but I never bothered with the more expensive ones.

I almost always slap on a demonslaying enchant when leveling alts just because it glows awesome.

I remember I use to spend all my mount money on my mage back in the day doing silly junk like buying beastslaying on EVERY weapon I would get just because I wanted to look cool. That and spend money on vendor staffs because they had higher dps on them. God was I stupid.

One of my favorite early-game ventures was finding out which enchants were available and which colors they were. I ended up with beastslaying most often, since it was cheap, but Striking was probably my favorite because it was blue.

I thought the glow from Icy enchant was so cool I paid for one on my Vanquisher’s Sword. It turns out that enchant barely ever procs.
