So it appears that the Boralus Sillithus port will delete itself if you phase Silithus to pre-bfa.
This is not how this portal used to work. It used to be you could still access the portal but it would just dump you next to Xidmori the time dragon NPC that controls the phasing in Silithus.
So now if you ever phase Silithus to pre-bfa, in order to get the portal back, you’re gonna have to manually hoof it all the way back to Silithus, phase it back to post-bfa, then the portal will reappear in Boralus.
I have no idea why this change was made but its extremely annoying. Please change it back.
I wish they’d stop removing/moving portals, sometimes i feel like my brain is about to bluescreen when trying to remember how to get somewhere old, i can’t imagine how much of a nightmare it must be for new people.
I’d honestly love to see a system whereby we can look at our world map of all of the different continents and just click on an icon that will port us to the zone, somewhere central of course, but give it an hour long CD or something.
Edit: Also, for anyone else that has a hard time getting around, there’s an addon called Tome of Teleportation, it puts all of your hearth, portal cloaks, rings, toys and other items including old CM portals into one handy little menu and also splits them down to their respective expansions. As an engineer, this addon also puts all of my engineering portals into same place too, it’s pretty amazing, especially if you have an old account with lots of old portal items.
Ok. An update to this. Things get more bizarre. Turns out for some inexplicable reason, Blizz has decided to link the Uldum and the Silithus phases such that switching one will automatically switch the other to match (even though they both have their own time phasing NPC). This was not the case before. WTF are you doing, Blizz???
War Within cinematic is in Silithus, so it’s probably reasonable to assume that this is where the pre-patch event’s going to be. They’re probably going to add a new third phase to Silithus/Uldum.
That sword is massive. If it fell over it be like the worlds tallest high rise just tipping over. There will be massive damage. I’m sure it will land on something super important too no doubt.
My favorite part of the Silithus mess is they sent one of my toons to get the Heart of Azeroth and well, Magni wasn’t there. I tried flipping the zone back and forth but nope. He never appeared.
They really need to figure this stuff out before it goes live (I know - LOL).
Also, dear Blizzard - please put the portal network back in Pandaland, Outland, Ashran, etc. We do not need Stormwind/Org to be the Grand Central Station of the game.
This goes pretty hand in hand with how confusing the Dragonflight leveling process is with newer players. Not to mention starting in Emerald Dream, then going to Forbidden Reach, and kind of skating around between zones according to Leanmince in her recent thread.
To tack on my own sidebar: I really wish they’d devise a better way of ports around the world, too. If you’re in any main city fro an expansion, you should be able to instantly teleport to any zone in the game. No cd but you can only do it from Dalaran, Thunder Bluff, Stormwind, Oribis, Valdrakken, Shattrath, etc.
To add theme, make it require talking to an arcane telemancer that connects us with the undercurrents of Ley lines (or elemental flux in Outland and draenor since that’s a different planet).
Or! Provide a Portal to the zone once you complete the loremaster quest chain there - just like dungeon portals. Make them an hour cd and place you in a relatively out of the way location.
