I use one to make all of my bags into one (bagon?). It helps make all of those 6-slot bags look a little less depressing. Tom Tom also greatly reduces the time you spend running back to your corpse.
What I know is that a WoW addon can only be run through WoW. It’s not some random binary or code being executed outside of the WoW sandbox.
What’s going on there is that is inter-addon communication using Blizzard-provided private channels for addons. It exists completely within WoW and does not access anything outside of the sandbox.
So, neither one of the scenarios you’re mentioning.
Line 98:
C_ChatInfo.SendAddonMessage(ClassicLFG.Config.Network.Prefix, messages[key], channel, target)
API C_ChatInfo.SendAddonMessage
Sends a message to the hidden addon channel.
ah that makes sense. Yeah everywhere I looked was saying they’re security sandboxed so can’t make network calls. That was the one I was finding that was throwing me for a loop.
Honestly, the functions in there are poorly-named. The name “Networking” is technically correct but too similar to inter-computer networking that it’s easy to misinterpret what’s going on. I’d have at least made it “InterAddonNetworking” or similar.
No I use addons because I don’t like the default UI its too cluttered and just not clean enough I prefer ELVui.
I couldn’t play Classic or Retail with out a ton of addons.
Laughs in 21 add-ons
I did give it a good couple weeks and some change before cracking though
No addons or internet diving for answers.
i have no addons
I did until the mid 30s, at which point there were too many quests in too many different zones for me to bother trying to figure it all out myself.
Also I like being able to see the vendor price of items.
I tried to play with no add-ons but only knowing the price of things when you’re at a vendor was just too frustrating. After that I got a few addons to help me with instances so I don’t slow down the group I’m with.
I don’t use Questie, though, because there’s nothing wrong with going at my own pace when I’m playing by myself.
holy crap dude, you’re dumb. or a troll…
None of the above. There’s nothing “dumb” about not using Addons. Nor troll-ish.
in the olden days pretty sure my entire guild used titan, dps meters maybe a few others, the only difference now is I use modern addons that make the interface tidy and I guess I can do most everything in game without having to tab to thottbot
…Ew.
