Anyone else miss Maldraxus?

God I love this zone!
Might be the best zone in wow.

I just love the feel of it.
Brutality, Death, and Metal!

If Shadowlands was just two zones with Maldraxxus aesthetics and two zones with the Maw aesthetics, it would’ve been a perfect expansion for me. :100:

I’m a big metalhead myself. But Maldraxxus looks like a fart.

Honestly, and not entirely trying to just poopoo on SL because it’s SL, but I think any SL zone is lame inherently due to devaluing the concept of the impact of death and what happens when you go to the afterlife. It’s like…dragon ball Z. Oh you died, who cares. You’re still basically alive for all intents and purposes.

I mean it’s kind of silly when you think about how we all went to the afterlife and found a hub with a bank, vendors, flight paths, profession trainers, etc and then went around the afterlife picking their herbs, mining their ore, and skinning their animals like it was any other zone. And…“killing” their bad guys or whatever it is you do to someone who is already dead.

I’m doing my SL meta achievements, been in Maldraxxus for the past month, it is a pretty cool zone, I’ll miss it after moving to Night Fae in a week.

Best zone in SL though is definately Zereth Mortis, loved everything about it, even the music.

No, i hated that they sent me back there recently, content recycling happens enough as it is without sending us back to old zones and giving us quests that are located in the middle of old world quests.

Yeah, I liked Maldraxxus.

My favorite place to AFK in Shadowlands was the lake behind the Seat of the Primus.

I miss the Ardenweald. I’m a big fan of the Celtic origin myths.

But to say that implies you understand what happens when you die or what happens in the afterlife (if there is one or not.) Nobody knows. Blizzard just manifested the afterlife of the warcraft universe in what they believe could be an afterlife and death. In a parallel universe to ours death and the afterlife could be a actual physical plane of existence that is technically reachable. You are just correlating what we conceive of death and afterlife to their universe and implying what it really should be.

I mean sure. you could go that route, but in a video game like wow it would be a pretty boring mmo to play if there were no mmorpg elements to partake in. Otherwise I guess we would just all sit up there in the afterlife and talk about stuff for two years until the next expansion and not really do anything.

Not even remotely. “Scourge but good” was a terrible theme for an afterlife.

A gross square zone covered in bugs?

Pass.

I really like Bastion, and not just because there are huge athletic warrior women angels carrying me around. I thought the zone was fantastic and the reveal of how it seemed idyllic and utopian on the surface, but there were tensions underneath, was very well done.

Maldraxxus was great. It looked mean and evil, but deep down it was the most wholesome zone in the whole game.

So I’m gonna post some of my old Maldraxxus screenshots here:

Petting Draka’s dog.

Dance party.

Petting Jelly Cat.

Baby Bear.

Eternal friendship.

Poor Clyde :frowning:

Weeeee!

Playing with Draka’s dog.

Taming Flayedwing with kindness and positive reinforcement.

Draka’s presence (and her dog) was the best part of Maldraxxus. The best strong female character this game has seen. Everyone should follow her lead.

yeah the systems were bad. and the main story after castle nathria was not good.
But SL zones are top tier. (well im not a fan of ardenweald cause of the kid vibes, but i know people love it.) Their aesthetic, art, and music are incredible. and the story for those zone are great too.
