Anyone else miss King Varian Wrynn?

I feel like we just started seeing him kick a$$ again, then he got killed off. I loved watching him and Garrosh fight in Wrath. And unlike most characters in WoW, he actually started to grow as a person. He was learning to work with the Horde, but also wasn’t afraid to throw down when he felt that he needed to.

I miss having him around.

Not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.

Chin Man was legit and a leader that actually made sense for a wartime Alliance unlike Anduin.

Oh come on. I love the Horde too, but he was a good character to have in the series.

Yeah. His kid could have gone on being a priest where he belonged. Now all he gets to do is yell at people and try to keep Gen Greymane on a tight leash.

Yeah, I miss when he was a Priest too. I know that he still is, but…you know, like the Players.

Well someone had to die in the Broken Shore and get that Alliance pride and badassery kicking again. Y’know, all that fun stuff.

80% chance we will see Varian again in the Shadowlands. I am well aware Blizzard said that there probably will not be a chance to meet all of the past heroes, but who knows, maybe Anduin will pay a visit.

If they’d ever bothered to update his model, I’d say maybe. I liked the voice actor, and the character seemed a lot less like a murderhobo (that’s our job, mister hoity-toity King of Stormwind) as he mellowed during the last couple of expansions in which he was alive.

But the model, man. It shattered any sense of believability his presence had. His chin just ruined it for me. It was so grotesquely large, you’d think he had some king of benign growth that formed exclusively along his jaw.

Oh dearly miss Varian Wrynn, killing him off was definitely a high driving point that made me want to kill Gul’Dan. I dont hate anduin tho still like his character although he learn something from his dad and be a little more resilient.

They should retcon him back and play pretend like they did with teldrassil.

Hey we are going to the shadowlands we migh see a LOT of dead Leaders specially famous one like Varian or even Garrosh… oh wait… he died in an alternate time line and other planet… maybe not.

Hmm what Covenant you think they belong to Varian and Garrosh?

He died on our planet and timeline. And I am not sure. Maybe he would join the angel people? He is pretty noble morally.

Varian was pretty cool, but his time came as happens. At least he went out in style!

But his death was necessary to really bump Anduin’s development forward. I kind of doubt we’ll see Varian though. I don’t know it feels like his story was tied off well already. Don’t want to overwrite his dramatic death.

I can see it now.
Varian walks into the Stormwind throne room.
Anduin: Father! I thought you were dead.
Varian: No, my son. I survived the Broken Shore.
A: Why have you waited until now to return?
V: Well… I… uhh… had to grab some milk and there was… a shortage. Yes. So I had to go to a different General Good store. Someplace… else. And there was a really long line.

Development? They might as well make him part of the horde council at this point, maybe even become thralls errand boy.

If you said toilet paper I would of believed this.

I think it was a mistake to kill off Varian this early in WoW’s tenure, just like it was a mistake to kill off Warcraft’s greatest villain in only the second expansion to this game.

Yes and no!

I miss someone great and who represents the unity of the alliance.
Especially after the depressive ending with which ally was toasted.
It is the way in which Anduin and other leaders have been discredited.

And not! I don’t miss Varian, because his death was the death of a hero. It was the ideal ending for a character with the symbolism and grandeur that Varian had for the alliance.

He died spitting heroism in Gul’dan’s face.

Wherever Varian Wrynn goes, he will remain a hero. Always. :sunglasses:

Honestly feel like Christie played a big role in wanting to get rid of Varian. Just so they could push Anduin out in front. Varian died to early.
