Seriously, Blizzard has managed to make World Quests so atrocious that I’ve actually got fond memories of the quests in BFA.
Nothing like hitting action button 5 times in 30 seconds to finish it or smash out a few 0/1 Kill quests in a single zone.
Almost every quest in Shadowlands is tedious as hell designed to waste as much time as possible, from the:
- Quests that have a hidden follow-up step appear after you do the first one

Fill the bar in areas with absolute no mob density
Cmon Blizzard you really stretching it with these world quests damn…
Bring back 10 second banger world quests.
Also BRING BACK THE WHISTLE WHAT THE HECK BLIZZARD? Make me run 5 minutes away from a Flight master with no easy way back.

I mean, I’m glad the turtle minigames are gone. But replacing them with naked timesinks is no good.
Right now Threads of Fate is slower than playing the story, even though Threads of Fate is intended for alts, largely due to this design, so don’t come back with the “lol MMOs always have timesinks” crap either.

They are more tedious, it’s true. Seems like a very intentional design choice though, to lower the number of quests and increase the time spent working on them. On the bright side, so many of the rewards are so low I don’t feel compelled to waste my time, so I guess there’s that lol.

It probably reaches 60 slower than the story does, but the advantage of thread of fate is that you don’t have to spend another 2 hours finishing Revendreth after you hit 60 in order to unlock your covenant.
As for WQ, yeah they are more time consuming now, but on the plus side you don’t have to do them at all because unlike in Legion/BFA they are not tied to player power.
After the first couple of weeks you’ll only bother with world quests if you want the gold from them.

Level to 59 with the campaign then switch to threads of fate for that last hump.

Yeah this is probably the ideal way to do it. You also get more gear rewards doing the main campaign than you do from TOF.
Another advantage of threads of fate though is that you get to totally skip Maldraxxus, which is awful.

I completely despise BFA, but holy crap SL WQs are terrible.
WQs usually are a shoter/faster version of regular quests but on SL it’s the contrary, quick quests are turned into world quests that can take like 15 minutes to complete lol
Blizzard is really desperate to inflate metrics with this expansion, they’re not even trying to hide that.

Don’t miss anything BFA and SL WQ’s are to convoluted in design.
The WQs arent that bad. Just a little tedious.
Would you prefer shorter quests for less rewards each, or these quests with a little increase to their rewards?
I’d prefer the feeling of momentum while questing. World quests in Shadowlands are like walking a mile through quicksand.

the cache’s don’t feel good, I understand they wanted to slow gear progression, but i’m only doing them for rep really, the extra gold is a bonus, but its not really much of a reward, it would be better if they gave some Anima. I refuse to do tons of these things, I did every world quest until I was exalted in legion and BFA, I felt rewarded by them. I am skipping many of them this time around, as they take to long, and are not rewarding enough for the time invested in my opinion.

Yes, I miss those. Although there are fewer wqs per zone, they seem to take forever to do compared to BFA.

I wouldn’t mind the longer wq if we either had our whistle back or some better placed flight paths. The travel time on top of the wqs is what kills it for me.

I do not miss BFA. I do miss the world quest design they had in BFA and legion.
All the shadowlands world quest really suck and I just look at em and sigh with unmotiavation to do em. Bfa and legion world quest never bothered until shadowlands.
