Anyone else love leveling?

I love leveling. It is my favorite part of a new expansion. I like to take my time, read all the quests, and explore all the areas. No rush to get to 80. Anyone else?

You will out level the zones by the 3rd area if you complete every quest. I just entered the 3rd zone and I’m level 80 already, and I have the last zone to complete as well.

I miss the days it took the entire expansion to get to max level, yea it was slower but doing it fast like this makes almost all rewards useless.

I’m confused on what they are doing though because the quests I’m completing now are giving me ilevle 515 gear when I’m getting 535 gear drops in dungeons that are lower level.

So what’s the point of even finishing the last two zones besides unlocking flying and a tiny xp boost for alts?

I used to be like that when professions had no gameplay but now it takes so much time to get all the professions going at the start of an expansion I don’t have time to waste on leveling.

what are your levels of renown in the areas you finished?

I got to 7 in both areas before moving on to the next. All quests completed

I do the same OP.

I finished every quest in the first zone, and realized how quickly that was leveling me, so I’m only doing the campaign quests now.

I’m 78, and I’m still in the third zone, so I should be 80 by the time I finish. Can’t be sure as I’ve avoided all spoilers, so I have no idea how much is left.

Then I’ll go back and do all the side quests.

I’m having a blast!

so enough for a piece of gear from each one

I also enjoy levelling a new character. Hell my biggest issue is I like it too much. I’ve never had a main tbh…I’m always sort of an altoholic.

For me, I just love trying new classes out. Or sometimes it’s just the aesthetic of a different race with a class I love!

However, I do find it’s a bit too easy now to level. It took me less than 24 hours of actual in game time to get from level 1 to 66. That’s insanely fast. So much so, that you get barraged with so many skills, talents etc that you don’t even truly learn your kit. You have no time to do so.

Thankfully there’s sites like icy veins or wow head out there with builds, guides and all you would need for a good starting point to learn your class. However, as with most things in life, it’s always easier to learn by actually doing.

Hell, I have a shaman I just levelled and I’ve got about 10-15 skills I’ll probably never use, unless it’s a specific niche moment. And even then….it’s prob better to just spam damage or heals to get through the niche moment instead of scrambling across your actions bars trying to find that one skill you’ve been waiting for ages to finally justify using.

So as much as I love levelling, it would be nice if there was a bit more of a grind just so newer players to a class can become familiar with the skills and rotations. But…that’s just my two cents.

Same. I always go for loremaster and uncovering the map first. I love getting to know the new zones and people in them. I read all the text. I’ll get to 80 and get geared eventually. I’m not worried about that. I’m here for the story they want to tell me. Always was, always will be. I’m still on the Isle of Dorn (at level 76) with no idea when I’ll get past it and not a care in the world that I still am.

Been dodging spoilers as best I can. Crying at points. I’m having a great time!

Okay, the first piece of green gear dropped that was higher level than my Season 4 heroic tier… that hurt, but I’ll live. I always do.

Got most my alts up to 80. It only takes 1-3 hours each.

Same, it’s the only time you’re really ā€˜playing the game’ whilst not on the endgame treadmill. The treadmill basically starts when you hit max, in any version.

In Vanilla/Classic, leveling was the game. Endgame and raiding activities only saw a small percentage of players actually do them, now it’s the ā€œmainā€ part of the game.

It took many weeks/months+ to hit 60, because of exploring the world and all that, mostly on foot.

IMO, pre-season is for preparing.

So I’m more interested in hitting 80 on the toons I might want to play in S1, making sure I have relevant currencies and features unlocked, and getting a starter set of gear from dungeons / whatever.

I will probably do this on 2 or 3 characters before I go back and smell too many roses. I do like deep diving to see what cute details they put into cities and such.

And I did do the side quest chain with the Earthen shutting down.

I guess I should have said I love questing. I like doing all the quests and exploring. I know I will level quickly but I will stay in a zone until I have finished all the quests.

On the flip side, ive did nothing but the main quests and was barely 72 when i moved to the second zone, which is 73. Going to continue down this path to see if it eventually becomes an issue.

I do enjoy it when it’s fun but when it’s this easy it’s hard to enjoy. Nothing feels interesting let alone epic except for cinematics because there’s no challenge. You used to have to plan CC and CDs around a pack or stick to smaller pulls. Now pretty much every class and spec can not only pull a pack with no thought but pull every pack in sight.

No expansion has been like that…

If you’re including the campaign in the last two zones, then you’re missing out on dailies and other endgame quest content, as they don’t open up until the campaign is finished. Renown levels as well for each zone is on all the side quests which allows you to pick up recipes and high ilvl gear from the rep vendors. While the quest rewards are mid, they have chances to upgrade to higher ilvls, and you can still get some really nice drops from world questing (I’ve seen a few blue 564 pieces drop already).
