I played WoW since vanilla with a passion, all the usual stuff up till Cata, quit can came back for Panda, then quit on and off in Warlords, pre-ordered BFA, then when it came out played for about a week and quit once again, then on and off a little bit and have only just got back on after 9 months not playing.
Since coming back it took me casually 2-3 days to get level 120 on my pally, bought some AH items to get into raids and made some items from professions.
The game just doesn’t hold that “MAGIC” anymore.
I started off on my pally and green items were better then most of the purple items I had and that’s just trash drops. I pull 10-15 trash mobs at a time and can take down most elites etc on my own.
I log in now on my pally and think, whats the point, I can kill almost everything without having to kite/cc/etc on my own.
I see shadow priests killing elites with ease now.
I see a lot of people saying its so much better now then when you had to use your abilities for mobs/elites/etc, mmmm is it really better to just be able to kill anything without a thought about what you need to do not to die.
Then the flying, WTH, you get it, then a new exp comes out, you have to do it all again, then a new zone comes out and yep, do it all again. I paid my gold to get flying, why the hell should I have to do anything more, its mundane and boring as hell.
I have come to the conclusion that the game is heading in the wrong direction and its not going to come back anytime soon, they are bringing in classic WoW for us that want to go back to the good old days of things being worth while to get, not the play the game and we will give you everything. But why do they need to bring classic back, why cant have just left well enough alone and continued to make WoW a game you need to use your “SKILLS” of the hero you are playing.
I get the fact that we are in a decade and generation of everyone gets rewarded for participation, but how much must we take away from the core essence of the game itself, we all relied on being in a party to achieve that end goal, I guess the essence of thinking of what is needed and how to best achieve it has gone.
The game and many others out that feel like “NANNY” games now, we cannot upset the generation that has started playing the game or those that have played in for ages and whinged it was too hard.
I now log in and think is there any real point, I go into bg’s and more then likely get items that are better then what I have, I go into a raid and bam, rewarded for almost doing nothing.
If this is how the game is going to be and is becoming, I don’t personally think its going to last on pc much longer, the age of mobile gaming will be the norm.
just a rant, have fun
My priest in 2005 was named Meh, I’ve been going ‘meh’ in retail before it was cool.
I go “meh” when I see posts like this. Especially when they say “been playing since vanilla” as if that adds to the credibility.
Oh noes someone on the internet doesn’t like Meh!
I just skip the log in part and go straight to “meh”.
Maybe 9.0…
Going through that right now. I logged in to do my Mechagon/Nazjatar dailies and realized that I really don’t care anymore. The new zones are old after two days. It’s just more of the same BS of grinding stupid dailies to get a timegated achievement that gives us something we should have had from hitting 120. “Biggest content patch ever” and it was obviously rushed to compete with FFXIV. It’s ridiculous that we waited so long for this and the main attraction for me - the new dungeon, isn’t even out yet.
8.2 is a flop and I don’t know why I expected any different. All this time and it’s just two new zones that demonstrate that Blizzard STILL hasn’t learned anything (rare timers, RNG and timegating BS, etc.). I’m not going to continue forcing myself to waste hours each day trying to do my chores in these zones just to feel like I have “content”.
I’m done. Blizzard is no longer the AAA developer they once were. It’s painfully obvious that they are a C-tier developer now. There’s a reason that none of the actual talented devs are there anymore. I’m gonna go play FFXIV.
Do you just troll every post with some sort of snarky reply? Yes it does add credibility because obviously they’ve paid their fair share in sub fees.
Yeah…its so boring. /Shrug
I’m just doing Emissary days that I like, mostly skipping any that award AP unless its for a character that is close to a Paragon chest. Besides that, I’m mostly ignoring Nazjatar and Mechagonorrhea as they frustrate me more than actually provide any sort of entertainment.
I’m jumping back and forth between ESO and FFXIV trial.
I’d also recommend checking out GW2 too if you haven’t! It’s a pretty damn fun game, while it doesn’t quite scratch the traditional MMO itch, the combat systems and dynamic questing are loads of fun.
I started playing FFXIV myself after Shadowbringers hit yesterday. I’m excited to see where the story progresses and so far the dancer class is pretty fun!
It’s going to be a while for me to upgrade the Trial to Full as I’m an altaholic type player, I realize I can play all the classes on a single character but that doesn’t work for my inner roleplaying. I got to have at least 3 characters one doing all the plate type jobs, another that does all the leather jobs, and a last one doing all the caster jobs.
What irks me about the Trial is I can’t have all 3 characters on the same server. At least I have them all with the bonus exp until they hit level 60, the Trial only goes up to level 35 so things should go pretty quick even playing 3 different characters.
My whole raid group said “meh” and we went and did nighthold and antorus mog runs instead. Had more fun doing that than anything else in game for a while.
No, I’m pretty excited to log in. There’s a ton of things to do and I like that. Doing dailies in order to get my rank 2/3 essences doesn’t feel like a chore to me, it feels like I’m putting in effort to get a gigantic upgrade and that hypes me up quite a bit. The two essences for healers (well and ERT) that come from Nazj and mechagon are very good overall and interesting to use so it’s pretty exciting. Makes me enjoy doing anything rep related in these two zones. It’s similar to the old mount rep farms where you grinded a ton of mobs knowing you’d get something awesome at the end so it made the grinding okay.
My guild has 15-30+ raiders on every day doing all sorts of stuff ranging from islands to dailies to RBGs/pvp for essences and AP. There’s a lot to do and getting the essences ( for my spec at least) is exciting imo. Islands are probably the worst part of all of this but we usually get 1 mythic island done every 5-8 mins so it’s not terrible.
There’s very little RNG involved with anything in 8.2 outside of stuff that was already in the game like titanforging. I’m not going to tell you your opinion is wrong but I personally like the rare timers in both zones (they could and should remove the 3 rare Nazjatar quest though, those rare timers are very long), the jetpack in mechagon is awesome as well. Grinding to get essences feels like a grind worth doing because the reward is very good (and for some specs, also very fun). I don’t think 8.2 is a flop at all, I think it’s a very good patch. My favorite part though is getting into rare farming groups for mechagon, I’ve been in a lot and each time it’s been an awesome social experience.
There’s still a lot of problems with BfA and the game overall imo but 8.2 is a fairly big improvement. My mentality went from almost quitting to excited to get on, primarily because of essences and the rare farming stuff.
I will say that they delayed 8.2 and flight so long that when I finally logged in yesterday to check it out. I sort of looked the initial part over and it rather felt like Antorus. Then I did feel meh.
I don’t have any problems with a game evolving. However when it’s no longer fun to play that’s a huge issue. The content supplied in bfa and in 8.2 is just terrible and boring. I’m not here to give blizzard ideas how to make content fun, that’s their job, we pay them for that.
Then why log at all. Just stop playing, it’s what many of us have done.
Wait for 9.0, if by then the game does not suit you, then wait for 10.0 or quit WoW altogether.
I agree with a lot of this, but saying battlegrounds give good gear is not true at all. They are (sometimes, not all the time) some of the hardest content, with health bars moving faster than any dungeon or raid, yet give absolutely irrelevant garbage. I’ve geared all of my PvP characters through keystones.
It’s only because you capitalized “MEH” that I read it in Cartman’s voice.
I’m sorry to be so low quality, but you need to put spaces in between those paragraphs before I even make an attempt.
