Anyone else like 60-80 leveling?

So, I’m apparently a weirdo. I read a lot if threads about leveling and everyone seems to rip on Outland and Northrend, but it’s the only stretch that I truly enjoy.

1-15: Starter zones. They’re ok and they go quick.

15-60: Queue from capital; don’t feel like leaving without flying.

60-80: Flies by in no time. I love picking up 8-10 quest from a hub and just running a circuit around the zone. Turn them all in and start on the follow ups. Zones are beautiful. Music is awesome. Grizzly Hills can be played at my funeral. I also love the dungeons from TBC and Wrath, so questing while in queue is a must. I’m almost tempted to take off my heirlooms.

80-90: Quest in Hyjal because its not ad bad as having to meditate with an NPC every six quests. Queue in Panda dungeons because its not as bad as all the one shot mechanics of Cata. Hooray, I’m pick things I hate because I hate my other options more.

90-100: WoD questing is actually good. I skipped this expac, so I don’t have any off the scars that lack of content seemed to leave on others. The first horde zone is awesome; love working with Durotar.

100-110: Not sure if I like it or not. With invasions, its over before I have an opinion.

Is there anyone else like me that cringes every time someone calls for a revamp of 60-80? How about we just make it 60-90? You can do your Cata/Mop questing and I’ll stick to Outland/Northrend for an extra 10 levels.

Leveling past level 40 is when it starts feeling tedious.

I honestly have no complaints. Every time I level a new alt I always say I am going to take my time and thoroughly go through every zone and get all of the lore master achievements.

Then I am at the cap for that expansion before I know it. Granted I use the heirloom gear, then the extra xp potion in Warlords.

Northrend is amazing and I really don’t ever get tired of it.

Outland? Not so much, but it has a few moments.
Cata Zones? Urgh. Blech.

MoP and on? Happy, happy.

I always look forward to hitting 60. I’m actually upset that they increased the minimum level requirement to reach Outland from 58 to 60!

The first two continents ever added to the game are amazing. Grizzly Hills anyone…?

I hated Outlands first time through. Not sure why, I can only assume because real life at the time was rocky to say the least. Now though I am beginning to like it. Still dislike Terokkar Forest though.

I can get to 70 before I finish Hellfire w/ a run or two in Blood Furnace or Ramparts.

I think part of the reason people don’t like 60-80 is because we spend 20 levels on two zones (wrath and/or tbc), then 10 levels on two (cata and Pandaria) as well.

I would prefer wrath/tbc 60-75, then 76-90 on cata/Pandaria. As it is, wrath/tbc gets 20 levels and cata/Pandaria only 10 levels.

Edit: people mentioned outdated quest design. I think this is also true. Things like low drop rate (I remember killing 70+ spiders in zul-something between storm peaks and grizzly hills only to get 10 venom ducts or something) and long travel (in hellfire peninsula, we have to travel to the other end of the map, kill mobs/farms stuff then back) are certainly tedious compared to current design (close to our objectives, higher? Drop rate).

I actually loved WoD because I was doing really well in life when I got it :upside_down_face:

leveling from 1-120 is boring.

I am in favor of a squish (if it is done right). there is no need to make us crawl thru 119 levels before moving on to the end game.

I actually love 60-80. It’s the tedious 1-60 I really didn’t enjoy. Guess who’s not playing classic

i agree. if I could start at level 60, I’d be fine with that. I can’t stand classic zones.

Same here. I enjoyed Warlords as well probably for the same reasons.

TLDR version, I feel like I like all the older content better than BFA, though BFA felt amazing when I first got to zuldazar and I don’t plan to do much with alts until I finish pathfinder 2. Might just be that Legion was a tall order to beat and BFA feels crude and banged up in comparison. Expansion centered around a sword the space giants could’ve just yoiked back out of the planet for us…

Re: person not sure if they like legion - it was fantastic when it was current, imho. After they threw artifact knowledge out the window at least. I think people hated grinding heroic dungeons to free illidan and get 12 gold or something too, but great fun overall. The artifact weapon screens and order halls were all very well done. Ilevel 1000 even though it’s just numbers. Spaceship to Argus. Illidan story quests. Veng demon hunter soloing normal dungeons comfortably once geared…

Re: Outland and beyond
Outland was pretty nice when I ran through there a couple months ago. I only started wow in 2015 so haven’t beat everything old zone to death yet. My first trip through outland I got maybe 90% of the stuff done before outleveling it- back before level scaling and before I had all the heirlooms. Now I’m hitting level 80 just about when I finish hellfire peninsula zones. Though I do a fair amount of pet battling and herbalism and mining with heirlooms while levelling too. And they nerfed exp cost of old content levelling to boot.

I levelled with warmode on, and there was a surprisingly large and busy population of players killing each other most nights. Probably the only thing that slowed my levelling (in a fun way) was time I spent camping Honor Hold in retaliation for alliance camping Thrallmar in retaliation for us camping Honor Hold… that cycle of hatred Sylvanas spoke of. We often formed raid parties flying round in circles after each other too. Terokkar Forest music also takes my breath when I step in that place. One of my best memories was my first level 60+ hunter toon getting a crit on Terrok to kill him just as he raged and was about to kill me. All my bandages and potions and healing options were on cooldown and I had like 1% of my health left. I actually let go of the keyboard and accepted my demise. Then I unsquinted my eyes to the thrum of a critical hit… and there was the sparkley corpse at my feet.

Then I hit pandaria because I never levelled through there before and it was all new to me. Finished jade forest and skipped over to the farm place to get my first farm but didn’t learn all the cooking. Draenor always feels a bit fun to me at the start with all the running around, but my first time through on horde side after the garrison was equally fun. One part running up a mountain while some giant and rolling flaming boulders down at me or something… finished a couple storylines and got the 30% speed buff in outdoor draenor zones, got all the garden tool xmogs. Legion was fun but most of what I did was artifact weapon and order hall stuff for the achieve - warrior order hall was amazing, my first time in there. Also finished out some pet battle WQs I needed to up my battle pet limit to 1500, got to Argus invasion before I finished any legion zones, then went to BFA. (This a mag’har orc warrior levelling this year. I beat legion pretty thoroughly when it was current with hunters, demon hunters, and rogue on both alliance and horde side. Regret not doing all the classes to see all the order halls, but my time is limited.)

So far I feel like I like all the old content better than BFA, but could be Legion was so grand it’s making BFA feel like trailor trash. I did love Zuldazar my first time into BFA - the music and scenery there was all great, but my alt was content to not repeat any stories and I’ve been playing FF4 on snesfun website for a week or so now…

I love Outlands through Cata. Can’t stand MoP and WoD but the good news is I can level with treasures, rares and bonus objectives in those two.

60-80 probably takes longer than 80-100.

60-80 is a relic compared to other leveling zones. For people who preferred questing before the Cata revamp, that’s the closest they can get. But most people just want to get through leveling ASAP and those zones are huge and not very streamlined so it can be frustrating, big quest hubs or not.

60-80 is some of the most playable content that exists. I love it. 80-90 is great too, Cata is probably better than Pandaria but 4 winds and Jade Forest are great too.

But I love having level 60 characters because I get the joy of going to Outland and northrend

For me when I feel like doing nothing, I just level through the none storyline Zone, which mean starting in the wetlands and then hitting the Arathi Highland. I hit 60 by the time i am done with the zone.

If I am feeling warmodey, I go through Ashenvale and kick butts all the way down into Ferals, I hit 60 by then.

At 60-80. I skip TBC compeltely, I queue up for hte dungeon to get the achevement and then work on the WOTLK ones.

At 80, I usually go for the soothing Vasjjir, fight in Hyjal, or Panda. Panda was alright.

I love at 90 to 100. I usually finish to the Blackhand cutscene.

At 100-110 , i ALWAYS do the battle for the Broken Shore…its just something that has to be witnessed…

Then I star in Valsahra to see Ysera death cause…feels…

Finally in BFA, I do the Battle of Undercity because I like it. I barely life a finger just let the NPC do all the work.

And then WQ to get catch up mechanic. If I am lucky Warfront is up.
