Or am I an idiot.
It’s not bad, just have five attacks to press lol

I healed Dungeons the entire way to 70
I’m moreso talking about questing.
Yup, I’m preservation.

Im leveling as preservation and i love it so far! Ive also pretty much always leveled using a healer at the start of an xpac so im sure im showing bias
I am. I always level in healer spec for new xpacs. I also level in war mode, so leveling as a healer is double good for the random gank attacks that come out of nowhere too.
Been preserv since 58, tried devastation before 60 but did not like much. I prefer to get used to healing so i can jump in dungeons and not have hard time healing.
Also the combo firebreath and living flame is great for packs. And firebreath heals you
Personally I level as Devastation, with the Mastery and a fully charged Fire Breath you nearly one shot mobs, it makes questing far more quicker and easier. Also Scintillation with Disintegrate is great aswell.
I do Dungeons as Healer, I love that when you queue as Healer and get into a Dungeon it automatically switches you to Preservation and once out back to Devastation. So easy and simple. (Healing main btw).
I like to play all specs of the class just incase that rare moment I can’t heal and need to go dps I’m already farmiliar with the play style and rotation, so I’m not dead weight playing the spec and perform decently.
One way to be immortal. I switch when I need to be a lile xtra tanky.
I am! It might be a bit slower, but I’m enjoying it a lot.
I am as well, though we both could be idiots. I grind through mobs, then watch a real dps 3-4 shot them and have to re-evaluate my life’s choices.
I leveled 60-70 as pevoker. It wasn’t noticeable until about 66 or 67 where the mobs just had a load of hps. It wasnt bad but it was safe even with large piles.
Sounds painful. I just mow through the mobs as DPS, though I did do many keys to gear my lizard before DF went live. Mobs fall over to me now it seems like.
I leveled as Pres with a focus on red for dmg and bronze for HoTs. A couple “oh s!@#” buttons for wpvp. Ever since maining fistweaving in BFA I’ve always been interested in seeing if other healers have that potential, and Pres does.
The trinket from Uld that raises your Int by almost 900 for 15 sec (then drops it by 300 briefly) was perfect for Tip the Scales - Fire Breath on giant packs. Add in the black spells and you can aoe farm all day. Any time I saw someone getting ganked I was able to jump in to heal them to full then pop off to turn the fight around. You can survive any elite under 1 million hp. It’s super satisfying.
However, once you hit 68 you’ll feel the stat weight crushing your gameplay. Haste and crit are really strong for your burst, fast Living Flames and keeping hots ticking without maintaining them. Those stats are even more gone with 340+ gear at 70. Stat weights are gutted. So it’s back to focusing full time healing with a mastery build for me.
Been so long since I posted on the forums.
I skipped everything in Shadowlands after release, and am only on my second week of Dragonflight content, I’m not even to endgame yet.
I wasn’t super excited about Evoker, but I have played every spec in the game at least enough to ‘learn’ how to use them.
Augmentation is my favorite spec by far, mostly because of the flavor of the abilities and not because of any numerical effectiveness, still leveling so it doesn’t matter much.
Devastation is a classic glass cannon, they have strong enough self heals to get through content, but they drop sooooo fast against elites that are resistant to kiting, it’s actually more frustrating to level that way than as Preservation. Pres is truly almost indestructible.
My problem here is that I feel weird spamming Living Flame, Fire Breath, and Disintegrate for damage.
Just for flavor, I really really wish all 3 spec trees would either drop Essence Burst and the 2 stack talent for it, and either move it to the class tree in place of Landslide and Natural Convergence, or else just make it a baseline class passive. Every spec takes both talents, and unless I’m mistaken, point wise I think you kind of have to in order to get anywhere in the tree.
Replace the existing spec’s two Essence Burst talents with some binary choices related to Living Flame.
For Pres, I’d like to see Pupil of Ysera or Time Spike, PoY would work like Pupil of Alexstrasza does for Aug, but affects strictly casts against allies instead of casts against enemies, making healing LFs hit two targets, an efficiency buff for AoE healing without the AoE CDs handy. Time Spike is a short-cast damaging spell that replaces Living Flame, instead of healing OR damage, Time Spike deals direct damage, and instantly causes Reversion, Dream Breath, and Dream Flight to heal their targets for a small amount.
The second talent in the chain for Pres, I’d like to see Noxious Blast, a recolored Pyre, an AoE artillery move that spends Essence, dealing AoE damage and increasing the duration of your Dream Flight and Dream Breath on any friendlies in the AoE radius by 2.5 seconds.
This is a direct buff to the already popular Temporal Compression/Spark of Insight builds, but only if you’re actively trying to squeeze in some extra DPS, this would incentivize doing so and, mostly just makes Preservation FEEL more like a bronze/green focused spec, instead of a bronze/green focused spec who can only deal damage if they focus on red/blue spells.
I went Dev for the longest time until my wife decided she wanted to mass spam dungeons and went Pres for the last 4-5 levels.
