Anyone else here tried farming Deviate delight recipe?

Started on a new server to try out a pally, and Ive made some gold with deviates so far, but the cooked version sells for a lot more. There are no recipes on the AH and barely more than 2 stacks up at any time of the delights. So I decided to go farm it after reading wowhead comments.

Well, I’m about to be honored with ratchet, and i’m freindly with steamwheedle cartel now, with about 1200 mob kills. Been killing the pirates right by ratchet due to quick spawn rates and close to mailbox/vendor. I’ve also bought a full set of plate gear off the AH for when I ding 40 despite being only level 22 off of the grey trash ive vendored. It’s been quite a journey so far, and still no recipe.

That sucks. It just randomly dropped for my Hunter on Whitemane. It sold for a good chuck of gold too. Good luck and happy hunting.

As horde ive seen it drop many times on my other server, especially in WC. Ive sold it for like 2g, and seen 10 of them on the AH. But on this server, as alliance, it’s worth like 100g or more. I wouldnt even sell it either, im farming it so I can cook them to sell for more in the long run.

its a low low drop rate, gl to you. I tend to find it easier on centaurs around the oasis pools, but that may just be me

100g? You don’t say. Hmmmmm. I’m going to look at the price of that on my server. Like you, I may have to go farm for that recipe.

It dropped for my Hunter on a Centaur near one of the oasis pools.

Comments say all mobs in barrens have the same drop rate, some are just killed more than others so it looks different via the stats on wowhead. Some dude was saying theres a .6 drop rate for it off ALL mobs, but i’m starting to wonder because Shadowfang from SFK has an even lower drop rate than this, and ive farmed TWO of them with less mob kills than with this cooking recipe, which is absurd.

the handful of times ive gotten it was usually i was fishing near WC, centaur pats into aggros stops my fishing, get irritated kill it and oh hey. Neat.

there is a pack of roaming night elf elites in the southern barrens. i’ve gotten the recipe twice off of them.

I’ve almost always had it drop for at least one of my characters leveling in the Barrens, no special farming involved. I know one of them dropped while killing Zhevra for hooves.

Some guy I know – Eddietj – buys the recipe from the Horde AH, then sells them to an Alliance … collaborator … via the neutral AH. Then said collaborator lists the recipes on the Alliance AH.

Also works for Perfect Deviate Scales. I mean, hypothetically…

So far I have killed:

Southsea privateer x185
Southsea cuthroat x292
Southsea cannoneer x358
Southsea brigand x491

Also, I made a horde toon level 1, and personally pmed every single person that was selling the recipe on horde side trying to get them to put it on neutral AH, not one person responded to me. Could have been bots since who tf even plays horde on pagle. Or they were dooches.

Edit: Over 1500 kills in and i’m giving up. I’m gonna just fish deviates and keep selling them, then hopefully get lucky on the AH and find the recipe at some point when I can straight up buy it. Saw it often on horde side, for silver on the AH. Farming this is absolute aids and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemies. In fact you have a better chance of farming a shadowfang and selling it for 150g then buying this recipe, I know, Ive farmed TWO shadowfangs and an assasins blade on my horde shaman. With far less kills combined between those three drops than for this recipe.

so if it is cheap on the horde side why not just make an alt and lvl up to 20ish and make some gold to buy it on the horde side and then transfer yourself…

You can’t buy your own auctions, regardless of faction. I’d have to have a second account.

I know that. you get a guild mate on the alliance side to buy your auction…if they are so cheap and available on the horde side do a couple…1 for you…1 for them…and a few to sell for higher price on alliance side…
