It’s a new issue I’m having where my computer all but freezes if I alt-tab out and then back in. It’s possible it’s my computer, so I wanted to ask here.
Edit: ill add this on here, too. If you go to the Character Creation screen, and go back to Character Selection theres a substantial buffering time.
Its not freezing, so thats good. But i wanted to flag it.
video cache is emptied so when you alt back into WOW you are loading up video memory again
I don’t think DX12 does that because exclusive mode isn’t a thing anymore, unless he’s using DX11.
Used to be able to alt-tab easy before update.
Now after alt-tabbing, if I click the WoW button on the taskbar, nothing happens.
If I minimize every window but WoW, it’s frozen (the taskbar displays ontop of the game) and takes several seconds to load back in and when it does it has to load all the textures all over again if I’m in the title screen.
If I’m in-game I get booted out with a disconnect error.
And I just confirmed that yes, I am in Windowed Mode.
This should not be happening, at all.
Ive noticed my game freezing when alt tabbing too. Its weird.
I had to turn a bunch of my graphics settings down yesterday. Was having the same problem.
Pre-patch: 100fps+ basically everywhere except dornogal
After yesterday: 30fps everywhere, frequent lock-ups/hitches, game crashes when alt tabbing
Sucks I had to make my game look much worse to get good performance again, but turning my settings down did help a lot
took all day to reload wow I thought it was my laptop till I saw this thread.
So, apparently, for some reason it only did it 2-3 times and now it’s alt-tabbing just fine.
Dunno WTF that was about, lol. But I’ve alt-tabbed several times since and it was good each time.
I just added a new one to the OP. Big delays going from Character Creation to Selection.
