Anyone else going to sleep through Midnight?

With the removal of many signature abilities (Fire mage has 3 buttons lol) and destruction of accessiibility tools we’ve enjoyed for 20 years I really don’t see myself playing this expansion.

I’m not buying it ahead of time that’s for sure. I have serious doubts that Blizzard will hit the mark with class changes, encounter redesign philosophy, and replacing combat addons with natively developed features all at the same time.

My prediction is the entire game is going to be even buggier, even messier, and a generally awful experience for at least the first season. Pugged group content is going to suffer massively, creating an even bigger divide between those at the top in committed end game guilds and those at the bottom. The “middle-class” so to say will evaporate, and it’ll be an extremely small number of people doing high level content with their friends followed by a massive chasm down to the people who only play for delves and housing.

You think the tank/healer shortage is bad now? All signs point to it being even worse.

Midnight is a good time to go to bed, but I prefer to be asleep sooner to get my 8 hours.

Why pay to sleep?

Just go to bed instead, it’s free.

I haven’t pre-ordered, 1st time ever.

I’m not even thinking about playing Midnight until I see what’s up with Beta, which is “soon” by all accounts.

If healing is for real getting butchered, then I’m going to need some time to process it all, and some wine.

I’m a bit concerned about the extent of pruning, but my concerns are probably more oriented around aesthetics and class fantasy than strict gameplay. I was really excited to see us get our water elemental back, but then the monkey paw curled and supposedly our icicles will generate outside of combat as a permanent visual (the thing that made Sunfury obnoxious on 90% of mogs). This is something that absolutely would have been addressed with the glyph system, as warlocks have a huge variety of cosmetic options for their soul shards, including not displaying them at all. It’s insane that we need to ask for intrusive visuals tied to class resources to be somewhat customizable in 2025.

Otherwise the level of pruning does bother me. Like you said, Fire mage doesn’t even have enough abilities to fill up an action bar. It’s hard to feel like we’re masters of magic if all we can do is spam 3-4 abilities. I wanted them to lean a lot more into the way that Hero Talents bridge the thematic gap between specs, but losing many of our abilities has backtracked us instead.

Otherwise, there are things I really like about the changes. In general some pruning was needed, and I’m open to the change if the trade-off is more mechanical complexity with not just fights in delves, dungeons and raids, but in the overworld in general (especially when Prey is active). It would also help a lot if they just allowed casters to have greatly increased mobility. It’s not only fun in Remix, but it feels way better and more the more we’re expected to constantly move around and ground clutter in fights.

In general I’m about 90% excited for Midnight, and 10% concerned but willing to be optimistic. Frankly, everything we’ve seen from housing is so good that it absolutely blows every other MMO out of the water, and it’s not even close. So I wouldn’t say any of this even remotely kills my hype, but I’m hoping to see Blizz actively respond to their feedback forums.

Remix makes me wish for a Heroic World Tier in retail, but more in-depth, with enemies that have toned down versions of common boss mechanics so that simplified rotations give the game more room to have optional and significant difficulty spikes, while also serving as a comfortable training mode for players who want to try higher difficulty group content.

I’ll be sleeping until there’s in game housing for the better-than-overused-Orcs-and-boring-Humans playable races. And they had better have the same amount of customization, if not more, than those previously mentioned two.

I remember them promising we could set our Garrison hub in any WoD zone and that didn’t happen. Then they killed off Vol’Jin, robbing the players of finally having an expansion with him as Warchief. Then the smelly banshee defiled fallen Horde warriors in BFA, and BFA’s aftermath caused to SL exist.

Blizzard has promised and lied to use before. I have zero faith they will remember players like more than Orcs and Humans when it comes to Player Housing. The recent Blood Elf armors that were data mined showed them modeled on a filthy Human. Giving me further reason to doubt current Blizz.

I’ll at least try it first, but many of the class changes killed all my hype for it.
If it’s at least “meh”, I’ll play it.
If not, I’ll quit.

My bad. My new TR hunter is legit the first time I’ve played the class longer than 5min so I honestly forgot about hunters entirely.
