I don’t play Classic, no not jealous.
To me there was just something about the overall feel and aesthetic of being able to swing a two-hander around as an elemental warrior who didn’t wear plate, idk.
For what it’s worth 2h frost DK and SMF Fury have a lot of strong opinions on both side if they should have ever been brought back.
SoD is Vanilla without the EQ influences, I suppose. SoD is what WoW would have been if it wasn’t for Tigole and Furor influencing where classes and specs would fit.
That pretty much means we get to see what REAL WARCRAFT is all about instead of some EQ-whatever clone. If we want to play EQ, we can still do that. “Laurion’s Song” is the 30th expansion and it was released last December, so EQ1 is still up. But give me WarCraft.
SoD is 75% them adding later expansion/retail abilities into vanilla.
Just got back from checking logs. Retail needs to nerf Sub Rogue slightly and that’s it. Everything in SoD is out of whack. Why would the spend weeks balancing something that isn’t broken over something that is a train wreck?
Nah not really. Specs/classes in Classic/SoD are a lot easier.
Slap an armour and threat modifier on a spec and give them a taunt and you’re good to go.
Making a tank that’s actually good in retail is wayyyyy more complicated.
They started losing their power with Wrath, as thanks be to Longwriter’s famous DBRHP YouTube series, the DEATH KNIGHT class was the very thing they did not want to see(but it happened anyway).
Shadow Knights from EQ were indeed tanks. Remember the cigar-smoking cubicle crawler that only deemed WARRIOR as the one and only tank class. <_<
Why would the spend weeks balancing something that isn’t broken over something that is a train wreck?
Do you PVP? DH is running rough shod over everyone!!
On occasion yes. But I have enough sense to know that is never going to be balanced in a PvE game.
PVE isn’t balanced either, lol.
110 POSTS I think it’s safe to say light jealously
Initially, somewhat. It has some cool ideas, and I would have liked to see some of their new spec ideas in retail at the time.
Phase 2 has changed my mind on almost all counts. PvP balance fell off a cliff with how quickly people just drop dead despite a 25% stamina boost in PvP related zones, and the blood moon event just endlessly lags ever since they changed layering.
Logs are indicating the month old ICC is more popular than Gnomergan atm, and they just implemented a huge exp buff to try and bring people back. I’d rather not have that mess touching the modern game.
I’m playing SoD so no. Not jealous at all.

The buff and Gnomereagan numbers could be because many of us weren’t level 40 yet. Just got there the other day.
Ok, 4 classes need minor tweaks at the top to bring them down and another 4 at the bottom could use even smaller tweaks to bring them up.

Yeah, I cleared Gnomer once, and it’s hard to find another group that’s not in my own guild, we’re currently building our secondary raid team as well.
I just show people I got the gun off Electrocutioner and they’ll let me in, lol.
Definitely a harder raid than BFD was mechanics-wise, I can see why groups are more strict in regards to who they accept.
So you agree, things aren’t balanced!!!
Considering that the difference in performance is such that anyone can do anything no not really. There would need to be some real gaps for me to think things are unbalanced.
SOD was never meant to be a balanced version of WoW. The devs said this from the get go.
