I am, but only because I can’t stop myself playing alts, and renown progress is per-character, not account-wide. So, I’ve just been shooting myself in the foot when it comes to renown and profession progress.
personally I am not a fan of the current setup. doing the raid before you even know the story doesn’t sit right with me or make sense in anyway but oh well.
lol I agree with this 100%. I like the idea of rewards along the way but they didn’t exactly go out their way to offer things that I wanted. The Valdrakken renown 29 reward is weapon mogs and they didn’t even have a ranged hunter option.
This is basically DF in a nutshell. Good ideas, horrible/lazy implementation.
Storytelling and WoW have actually pretty much always been complete garbage. I think that’s the only thing the game has consistently sucked at. I read the story on wowpedia because the presentation is just so disorderly and inconsistent in the game.
If I wasn’t already familiar with the characters from the in-engine cinematics I’d cringe so hard every time one came up.
I mean I still do, I still skip majority of the in-game cutscenes because I think taking control away of your character in an MMORPG is bad design, it’s basically shouting to your player that you can’t take part in something cool and they have no other option. It reminds me that WoW runs on a quarter century old game engine.
yeah but they did it just by removing most of the things we used to progress, instead of making it be less grindy. did people actually hate borrowed power, or did they just hate how much time it took to acquire/level it? because to me, this expansion feels empty and pointless without it.
i legitimately hated it. i frig hated having to do solo grinds for a game i play exclusively for dungeons and raids. huge W for me
you didn’t answer my question. did you hate the borrowed power, or the time it took to acquire/level it?
They both frustrated me, the fact that I had to grind it out, and that it gave us less gearing options, and took away our abilities in v8.x/9.x/10.x it was exhausting and unfun to me.
Professions seemed like a huge hassle and waste of money to level up. Tons of money spent to do the dailies just to get knowledge to level it up, to only be able to end up being able to make like a few pieces of gear. Was clear to me that it would be cheaper to just buy from other people. It’s only profitable if you spam trade chat for your services for hours and that is NOT the game play I want to experience.
Renown is stuck at like 9 or something. Dailies for the next 10,000 years to level up renown seems like a chore and not how I want to spend my life. You can only press the extra action button to catch the fish so many times before you stand back, look at your life, and say “what the hell am I doing with myself?” Would make more sense to me to get reputation through dungeons, old school style. Whatever.
Yep I completely disregard them and the daily odd quests to grind the rep for them. I find them to be too much to do vs the time I have to play. Even the professions are too time consuming for me to bother with. But that’s just me. I see many enjoying both.
If profession and dragon riding skins weren’t attached to it, I wouldn’t touch the renown system.
I’m doing the renown at my own pace and I find that enjoyable
I farmed one for the infusion and didn’t give a rats butt about the others. I can tell you I won’t be completing the Tuskaar one anytime soon.
Not at all. Its part of the expansion. Its pretty impactful in unlocking quests, items, recipes, toys, and cosmetics. The renown system feels more engaging than reputation in the past. It kinda feels like a battlepass since you can see the staggered rewards all in order. Which is an improvement to older reputation rewards where you have less visibility unless youre standing next to the rep vendor. Plus having rewards for each level and having 25-30 different levels feels like more. But if you dont like rep grinding…dont do it.
