Was looking to replace my gpu. Probably ending up with a 3060. But I was just wondering if anyone is on 1440p with a 3050?
The 3050 will be absolutely more than enough to handle this at 1440p.
The xx70s are always the best middle ground for whatever series Nvidia is on. I wouldn’t bother with a 3060 tbh. Just toss in the extra $150 towards a card that will last longer and get 3070.
WoW is not a very graphically intensive game. Any 3000-series card would be massively overkill even at 1440p. I’ve got a 3060ti and I run the game at 1440p with near max settings and still get 144fps everywhere other than busy raid combat or crowded Dalaran.
I have a 3060 that I’m about to replace because of that rare unfixable voltage error where the card just shuts off (even while idling and not running any games).
I don’t think it’s worth spending the money on tbh, and not just for this reason.
I have a RTX 3070 on a 1080p 75fps screen. Runs at max settings and max fps everywhere except heavy pile ups in WG (a ridiculous 120vs120 BG). But my frame drops in there are a minor annoyance compared to the far worse server lagg from Blizzard. One must wonder why they didn’t simply reduce the raid sizes, a 5 minute fix.
If you’re not getting a 3070, get a 3060 at least. The 3050 is a cruel joke.
3050 is an absolute joke of a graphics card, and should cost half of what it does if that.
nVidia created it as a desktop card to fill the void of “low to mid end cards” during the GPU drought during the pandemic. They also knew no matter how overpriced or poorly performing it was, it would sell insanely well at a huge markup because people were literally paying for a place in line to buy graphics cards.
There are 5+ year old cards from AMD and nVidia that outperform the 3050 in some titles. The RX580 is a prime example.
3060 is a good card and worth the money. But please don’t become a victim to the disgrace that was the RTX 3050.
I have mobile version (3050Ti) over HDMI on monitor. Wow runs well on 10. It’s enough also for D2R, D3 and D4beta.
Yes.
The RX 580 doesn’t outperform the 3050. The 3050 is a little worse than a 2060.
You can run WoW at 1440P on basically anything. It is more CPU demanding than GPU demanding. A better CPU will gain you more fps than a GPU upgrade will in most situations for this game at 1080P/1440P. Was playing on a Ryzen 5800X/RTX 3070 Ti with 32GB 3600mhz CL16 memory and noticed when I upgraded to my RTX 4070 ti my fps was not much difference at all in the CPU intensive areas like cities and areas with lots of grass/players/npcs. It was due to my CPU limitations because WoW classic uses just a couple cores so IPC makes the biggest difference. The 5800X was still great but going from the Ryzen 5800X to 7700X is where I saw the highest fps increase esp on the lows. Playing at 1440P Ultra using DSR to downsample 4k image onto my 1440P monitor(because it runs at 280hz either way so might as well make the image look at bit better) looks super crip and stays locked at my monitors max refresh rate which is 280hz. FPS can go higher but I have it set to not go past that. When I travel I play on my laptop which is just an I5 10500H with a GTX 1660M. I am still able to play it on that machine at ultra 1080P and get 100+fps in most areas. So yea a 3050 will play WoW at 1440P with ease. However as others have stated you would be better off to save your money until you can get something like a 4060/4070 which would have FAR superior performance. Plus access to DLSS 3.0 on top of lasting you a lot longer. If you’re someone who just buys lower end GPUS but upgrades yearly then by all means you do you. Just giving my experience with it on different hardware.
Paragraphs please.
To give you hope, I play on a i5 12600k and a 1080TI 1440p at 144hz at max settings and get 150+ fps at pretty much all times. You’ll be fine lol
You don’t have to read it. How about I’ll do what I want and you do the same. K thx
