Anybody feel discouraged to create alts? Reputation, grind, story line, etc

I feel discouraged.

I understand achievements are shared, but its a complete drag re-farming reputations. And what is required to farm rep? Grind. Repeating World Quests nonstop.

Remember when tabards gave rep? Bring that back please.

Also, you need to do the main story line again. It’s a drag.

Any reason why reputation is not account wide?

Everyone does. Doing the same monotonous content over and over again just so you don’t stay behind everyone else is tiresome. Was gear not enough of a gate? Why do we need reputation and neck levels in order to compete on our other characters?

It’s one thing if we have something like the mage tower where it’s a different experience for every single class, but the current world quest rep grinding and ap grinding are the same for every class…

We would burnout much less if we could switch toons without having to do everything over again.

My alts are dead to me in 8.2. I kept up 3 alts through all of 8.1 by just doing a +10 and capping islands every week. I even brought my DK in for M Mekka, but looking at what is needed for the essences I am just sticking to my pally here and letting my alts rot lol.

Yep its really bad right now. Just returned and the Tortollan rep and Champs of Azeroth reps are gonna take weeks if i keep at it.

I shelved this toon at the beginning of BfA after maining him since mid LK. My warrior has all the rep for PF pt. 1 but not all the story achieves, so I’m going to do those on this guy while my main does his thing in Nazjatar/Mechagon.
That works, right? On WoWhead’s PF tracker I plug in my warrior and he has credit toward some objectives that I’ve only done on alts.

If Blizzard didn’t have rep grinds they wouldn’t have any overworld content at all. It’s honestly why I’m dreading reaching max level. I’ve been having fun leveling and exploring. Gonna suck when the only thing left to do is stand around WQ zones and farm rep.

You either join a guild if you can and raid/pvp or you grind. This is actually how I remember WoW when I first started playing.

Heavily discouraged to play alts in BFA and not because of rep but because it doesn’t benefit your main or other chars due to soul bound crafting items/gear ,Ap BS and lack of flying.

There is no objective, a goal when creating an alt like those mage tower appearances. I believe blizzard tried to do this with allied races but we all know how that went

The game is designed to play on your addictions and keep you in your seat forever while you sub to it. Blizzard is an evil company even though they come off as saints.

Yeah but now you are required to do reputation grinds since they hold a huge power increase to your character. Before, they were just optional for unnecessary entry level epics which were replaced once the raid tier started. I don’t mind grinding, but at least make it engaging. Why do I need to play Bejeweled on my Priest and then switched to my Shaman to do it again? This is not why I play World of Warcraft -_-.

Currently I have 13 level 120 alts. and I’m working on number 14 as I type.

I just level them for levelling purposes and if I want cool looking gear I farm old world content for mogs.

Zero point taking an alt seriously in the current expansion. Unless of course you want to actually live your entire life in a 15 year old game.

What are their ilevels and heart levels?

I won’t be playing Alts until Blizzard puts in catch-up mechanics for the new essences. Gear is whatever, rep is irrelevant after maxing it on another character, but essences? No thanks.

Why do you need your alts to have rep?

How about you answer that first.

I think the only reason for me to level an alt to max is for the racial transmog. And I am questioning why that is even important to me. I will maintain my alliance an horde paladins at max level, all two characters and just focus on them. Used to be that I would actually play those alts, but with friends leaving the game and then not doing raiding since wrath, I just can’t keep up with the alts.

And no I don’t want to join a raiding guild. I have social anxiety disorder and can’t be bothered with dealing with the drama and trying to live up to other peoples standards. I play the game for MY enjoyment. Getting yelled at about my rotation or DPS or whatever is not fun. In fact getting yelled at makes me perform worse.

What are these essences people keep mentioning?

Professions is one answer. Recipe ranks are rep locked.

I feel the opposite.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m having fun exploring 8.2, but as a whole I don’t really enjoy BfA.

So instead, I’m having fun leveling a small army of alts and doing old content. None of them are above 110, but I’m okay with that. I don’t really want to bring any of them through current content unless I find I need one of them.

Start them, no. But have any production professions? Yes. We have to grind rep to Revered just to get the BASIC recipes/patterns. Are you kidding me? WTH is this? I’m just putting gathering on everyone now. Even though I love doing production professions I know the utter crap I’ll have to go through starting with Legion just to get the basics and it simply isn’t worth it. VERY disappointed in this direction blizz.
