Okay so let me start off by saying first and foremost, I hate the new combat log. I only played from vanilla to wotlk (and a tiny bit of cata) so this new combat log came as a surprise to me. The new combat log in my humble opinion sucks, there’s so much information omitted from it, its my opinion that it was better before back when you had more control over what it filtered.
Okay so combat log can’t tell me what Grounding totem is absorbing (among other things) and I can’t find an addon with this function either…there has to be a solution some where…does anyone know?
It’s very helpful to know which spell was absorbed to be prepared for your next rotation of spells in pvp. For example if I know the grounding has absorbed a silence/cs then I know I’m free to cast/heal.
However, if you go into chat settings, you can do a bit of work to get much more information. I created a new log for everything, and then turned on every option I had in there. I can turn some things back off as I determine what’s of no use to me.
As far as addons, I haven’t used them fully, but both Recount and Details have much more informative pages you can dig down to, not just the simpler meter that shows.
Well, this was an option in the settings for the combat log window. You know how it has two tabs: “what happened?” and “what happened to me?” I opened settings from that window specifically and had the choice to make a new option, an additional tab I called “everything”. That specific page had a bunch of choices specific to logging.
However, yeah, my shaman’s a baby (17), so I haven’t got much in the way of totems to track yet. Hopefully someone with a grown-up shaman will answer if there’s better data.
I suspect that addons wouldn’t get any more data than the most complete combat log provides.
If you put the link, then highlight it and use the button </> it will surround the link with ` (the quote mark usually found at the top left of the keyboard on the same key as tilde ~) which prints it plain text but with dim highlighting.
I know PW: Shield isn’t being given credit to the Priest casting it and is showing under buffs on the effected character. I’m assuming that’s for all buffs.
