Is there a way to filter out people from OCE servers in LFG? I don’t mind them joining but it’s when they are making groups and you finally get into a key, but oh wait you have a 1-5 second delay and can barely play the game…

It’s never a 1-5 second delay and if it is that’s a you problem. Australians have terrible internet for a first world country and we usually sit between 150-400 ms when we connect to NA realms.
Also the amount of times I put OCE in my group name and Americans apply and then complain about the lag makes me laugh.

Automated one? None for now. I’m not sure if the algorithm also has a region preference, and it would be good if it does that, but ultimately I think it will harm the game more if there’s a region lock.
For listed groups, you can exercise some control by adding your region in the title. That’s the common practice ppl in OCE have been doing. But if all else fails, it’ll be good to browse through the OCE servers and avoid those.

Originally deleted because it didn’t actually answer the posted question. However, many of us do NOT have difficulties. Do the numbers go up slightly? Yes. Enough you can feel it playing? No. So yes it could be a you/your friend/guildies thing, can’t say. As for filtering, it’s not that difficult to look up the realm names, memorize them and then not apply to them.
So it’s a me problem when my friends and guildmates have the same problem? Interesting

Nah that’s an all of you problem or perhaps your provider.
There’s some addon that tells you where the servers are located but I don’t remember where it is. I just remember Frostmourne and Barthilas are the most populated.

Yes there WAS a way, which was an addon at one point made for a forum player, but blizzard banned it due to racism. There will never be another way again due to the methodology to achieving such a thing being racist in their eyes, and I agree with blizz despite being a NA player.
There are addons for that.
Now, i have noticed people mentioned the other addon who got banned, and indeed that one was against TOS as that one flatout excluded the other regions from you to see on Premade.
But there are still within TOS addons who put either a Flag or “OCE/NA/LA” besides the name-server

Legit 1-5 second even when playing on an oce server from na is either an absurdity to prove your point or you are stuck in 00s internet.
And groups I join are 90% North American where I frequently get a 250ms world latency and yet I manage to cope fine. (Probably dealing with that on a 24/7 basis for years until we got our own server taught us to adjust.) Most pugs listed by Oceanic players indicate OCE in the title and you can feel free to ignore that if you wish just as you can ignore any group listed for whatever reason.
Of course you will be missing out on playing with a dedicated bunch of Antipodean crazy people but that would be your loss.

Aussie do well with higher ping because we’ve been dealing with it for many years.
Most games that were released did not have OCE server, for LoL my friends and I player on 200ms for 2years before the oce servers came out.
On the other hand people in the US have been spoilt by perfect ping and are new to this 200ms nightmare so they tend to complain when they accidently sign up to an oce key.

The best thing you can do is memorize all the non-local servers.
Or find a game that is restricted to your local area. That would not include, for example, ESO which on PC operates on megaservers; one for europe and one for what we would could the US region. I dunno how many games have separate Asian/Oceanic/etc server options. I know FF14 does, dont know beyond thta.
The ping from the East coast of the US to frostmourne for me is about 300-350, not the 1000-5000 you’re describing.
In other words, it’s fine when we lag, but you get a little delay? Oh hell no!
There’s an add-on that displays a country flag next to the application in the group finder. So you can decline whatever countries/regions you want. It’s not automatic like Noob blocker was though.

Speak for yourself buddy, I get 20-50 MS max on WoW and have no problems with any other online game.
Except when they don’t, I’m not going after the people that put “OCE” in their title I love people that do that. But there are a lot of people that don’t, those are the ones I would like to know if they are OCE. Nothing worse than joining a group that is 4/5 players and then they are all OCE and I have to explain to them I didn’t realize they were OCE and leave them.
You are free to do what you want with your time and how you play the game, I just want an addon to tell me what is or isn’t OCE
