I’d like to try and get my mage tower transmog soon, finally decided i’d sit down and start practicing…
but i won’t lie, the current iteration of shadow makes me feel a bit of struggle, mostly coming down to dealing with the adds while also still keeping dps up.
shadow crash being my main source of aoe thanks to psychic link doing the heavy lifting means if i can’t dot everything it either keeps chasing, or if i take the time to, i lose a ton of valuable time on the boss, and the cd on crash isn’t short enough to hit every pack individually
Hints? tricks? guides? if anyone’s got em, i’m all ears, and thank you.
Ignore adds outside of landing shadow crash on them, psychic link actually kinda helps because you no longer lose all your damage on boss by swapping to kill hands. All the positioning / timing stuff in the wowhead guide is still relevant. I also checked at the start of this patch it was all still doable and it very much is.
The single most important thing is to optimise and perfect the damage burn after you first dps down the guy that chases you. The more damage you do there the less mechanics you have to do later.
Signed - The person who wrote (But has not had the opportunity yet to rewrite for 10.2) the WoWhead guide for the mage tower.
Thanks for the bits and bobs, i gave it another 3-4 attempts last night before bed just to see, got to around 40% HP without consumes except for a flask, i just gotta really hammer into my head the summoning and hands in the last phase now, i’m panicking due to the chaos
One thing to note is the runes on the floor can only spawn in 3 locations, which are mostly towards the side of the room where you entered. One thing I found helps is to kite karam + all the adds towards the back of the room prior to a spawn, so they’re out of the way and unlikely to impact you trying to soak.
Hi! I would recommend looking up guides from Legion when the mage tower was current. A lot of them are still accurate especially for shadow priests. I can try finding one that helps.
Shadow priest has been through at least 3 full mechanical reworks since legion, gained new utility spells, lost old ones, and the fight’s tuning has been drastically changed in terms of hand and boss HP.
Hpell, i just wanted to say thank you, i didnt finish it tonight but i managed to push to 5% about 20 minutes ago, i think i need to wrap it up for now but god, so close.
