Any tips for grinding out Blood of the Enemy?

Hey guys:

With the bonus week about to start, I need to finally grind out the honor required to get this essence. I haven’t done a battleground since TBC, so it’s been a long time since I’ve done any PvP.

I know there are some quests in there that I should turn in. Does anyone know if it’s true that you can skip over rank 1 for this essence? I read somewhere that if you just start earning honor, you can receive rank 2 without having to win the epic BG required for rank 1. I hear that can be difficult for Alliance to do.

Any tips would be appreciated. Any idea about how long this process takes?

You want some tips? Ok, here ya go…

  1. shut up and listen to the high honor level players, do as they say
  2. download the “Capping” addon for bgs and have it turned on
  3. always remember #1

You’re welcome :stuck_out_tongue:

As for how long the process takes? I guess it depends on how many bgs you spam/how much you are willing to grind. Grinding more bgs = you get the essence ranks faster.

Personally I got rank 2 (the 50,000 honor one) in like 11-12 days, just spamming epic bgs over and over… I didn’t even notice how long it took because I genuinely enjoy playing epic bgs, so I don’t really have any “ballpark” # of hours to mention.

I wasn’t really paying attention because “time flies when you’re having fun”, but I got rank 3 pretty fast too. If I had to guess-ti-mate it was probably under 20 days.

One last thing - swallow your pride. No… your Mythic raiding experience, arena rating, etc does not really mean that much in bgs - using the CURRENT winning strats is what actually matters :+1:

I don’t have any pride. I’m not the sort of person that thinks I know more about something than others when it’s something I know nothing about. And I totally get that experience in one area of the game doesn’t translate to the others.

Hm. Doesn’t sound like something I can do in a week. Was that 11-12 day figure you gave during the bonus event? How much honor does one get from doing regular/epic BGs anyway?

And any idea if you can skip rank 1 and receive rank 2 when you get to 15,000 honor? Or do I have to win the epic BG to get rank 1 before I start grinding honor?

I definitely had fun in BGs 11 years ago. But M+ wasn’t a thing then, so I had time to split between raiding and PvP. I came back to the game about a year ago when BFA came back, and my plate just feels super full with raids and M+ to learn all the things I need to include PvP as well.

LOOOOOOOOL! What bad advice. High honor means diddly-squat. There are so many players that spam random BGs and have no idea what they’re doing.

Go buy Saltwater Potions. Make a Swifty One-Shot macro that includes Saltwater in it and go slam out some kills. It doesn’t take much competence to outshine the majority of players in random BGs.

You’re a rogue so obviously know your strengths. They are:

People think rogue is extremely busted 1v1 and have no idea how to beat it because they’re bad. Prey upon solo base sitters that are likely tabbed out watching My Little Pony. Unleash the Swifty One Shot macro and just take the base. Tell someone else to come sit it because you’re likely better than them. If they don’t, then leave the base anyways and go cap something else. Why? Because your team is likely to lose another base regardless of how many people they have guarding it. Winning matches basically by yourself is the name of the game.

Grab a friend. My god how helpful this can be. Got another geared to the teeth friend looking to do it? Great, now there are two people to carry the band of idiots around. Go Swifty One Shot macro a group of players together.

Want to know how I random BG? I assume everyone on the enemy team and my team is terrible because 99% of the time that’s just the case. I go and get the berserker buff because I assume I’m the best player in the match, rock a PVE setup, and I go in and slam down infernal, rain of fires (about 5) with memory of Lucid Dreams essence major. Then I pop my Dark Soul and Saltwater Potion and I take out about 4-5 people all by myself. That’s literally the key to success. Saltwater potions and Berserker buff, bro. Literally all you need to know.

PS, the quests don’t count for the honor grind. Only the honor you get from doing the match counts.

Yes, I spammed bgs pretty heavily during the last time Southshore vs Tarren Mill was up (June 25-July 2). If I recall correctly, that was also a bg bonus event week.

I can farm up to 4-5k honor/per day just casually playing epic bgs every night. So it takes me roughly 10ish days to farm ~50k honor (5k x 10). I don’t have much experience with the little 10/15 man bgs, but I believe you get extra honor for those as an Alliance… although I’m not sure if the honor payout is comparable to epic bgs. My bread and butter is epic bgs, so that’s where my perspective is coming from… your mileage may vary with little bgs.

As for your question about the skipping ranks and the quest… I honestly don’t remember man. I’ve probably farmed like 200k+ honor since then

keep in mind OP is alliance and Epic BGs for them are less than ideal at the moment

I’ve heard that. I tend to play late night PST though and frequently encounter many Australian players. I hear they’re pretty solid at winning some of those for our side.

I know people did this in a week when the first BG bonus event was active. So it’s gotta be doable.

You can’t skip level 1 . Don’t worry alliance do win epics BG’s. Queue for IOC if you get frustrated . It has the best chance for a alliance
win .

Should be pretty easy to grind honor as alliance as you get 1.5 times the honor that horde get . Frequently an alliance loss gives equal amount of honor as a horde win .

The seasonal quests for wins do count.

By seasonal I assume you mean weekly and the honor you get from the turn in, and I still stand by my, “No they don’t.”

You get 1000 honor each for winning the first WG, AV and Ashran IIRC . So that’s 3000 honor right there . I assume that’s the quests the OP meant.

Pretty sure he means BG week quest.

You’re alliance so just queue epics, do objectives. Should have it pretty quick.

Having some trouble with this epic BG win requirement. Does anyone know if the honor earned doing those while trying to get the win for rank 1 will count at all toward the 15k for rank 2?

Since you are Alliance, I recommend specific-Q’ing for Isle of Conquest to get the 1 epic bg win for the quest. Alliance does fairly well in IOC

The winning strat is as follows:

  1. get/hold hangar
  2. kill glaives (very important)

You’re welcome, Alliance :stuck_out_tongue:

As for your question about honor earned, I’m pretty sure “all” honor earned thru bgs (whether normal bgs or epic bgs) counts towards the honor requirement.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask :+1:

Just got an epic win in Alterac Valley. Now I just need a regular win, and then off to the grind.

I have rank 3 on 3 characters I think. If not then it’s 2 and 1 at rank 2. Either way all I do is random bg’s and the 1st skirm win of the day and it comes in time. The fastest way is definitely epic bg’s though. There are little quests in some of them that reset weekly too. Like in WG there’s one that gives 1500 for a win.

Even with the bonus event week? That seems to apply to BGs and the Brawl, but not to epic BGs.

I am not sure. I’d have to read the quest and what it does. But if it doesn’t apply to epics then you’d definitely want to get the 1st brawl, skirm, bg, and epic win of the day. After that make sure you do the epics with weekly quests (think ashran and WG only not sure).

After that if regular bg’s give bonus honor it still might not outshine epics but could be close. Personally I can’t stand epic bg’s so don’t do them much and would just do normals.

Yes you can get 15000 honor point and be eligible for rank 2 even if you have not completed rank 1.
