Any reason to have more than on account?

topic. I run into people that have multiple… how does it benefit you in anyway?

Multiboxxing for world quests, really it.

seems not even close to worth it… aright. thanks broham

You used to be able to power level your alts with a second account by running them through dungeons, but Blizzard took that away.

Now second accounts are really only useful if you are a serious farmer or AH flipper.

I have 1 of each class on each faction split between 2 accounts with 1 of the opposite faction on each account. I have 2 computers at my house so when friends that don’t play WoW come by they can use my 2nd.

More character slots (and more slots per server, back in the recent past when you couldn’t have all 50 on a single realm). All manner of little perks, from the ability for a toon on one account to fly a toon on another account somewhere, to being able to buy your own auctions, to being able to sign your own guild charter, and so on and so forth.

It’s basically a playstyle thing for most people. There are some minor benefits that for most sane people wouldn’t be worth the extra cost [even in gold], but multiboxing as an actual way to play the game? That’s a thing.

I have an account for me and an account for my son, so that we can play together.

I am an altoholic. I have two active accounts right now, out of four. It’s purely to play different characters. 50 slots is not enough.

  1. You can have more than 50 characters.

  2. Before 2019 you needed 2 accounts to have more than 11/12/14 (it kept changing) characters on the same realm.

  3. Before mid-2018 you could power-level yourself, without having to pay someone or talk a friend into doing it.

  4. Before Legion, you needed 2 accounts to access the 2 Auction Houses on each realm (get Horde AH mats to Alliance crafters, etc.)

  5. You still need 2 accounts to transfer gold and/or mats between Alliance and Horde toons on the same server.

  6. Instead of soloing or finding friends to group with, you can form a group of 2 with yourself for outdoor stuff. When I played DAOC (before switching to WoW) I played that way every day, because soloing was much, much slower than in WoW, but 2-player groups did fine.

Have arguments with yourself in quest hubs?

I have a bunch from RAFing myself. Back in the day, you could RAF 2 new accounts and use a third with a high level to run dungeons. Each run from 1-60ish took maybe 10 minutes depending on the dungeon, and gave anywhere from 4-10 levels.

This was during early wrath, so getting to 60 using this method was super easy and quick compared to doing it normally. Plus every set of 2 characters you leveled gave another free one from granting levels.

I still have those accounts with tons of characters on them, but I only keep one extra activated for things like inviting my alts to my personal guild or multiboxing while herbing/mining.

it was worth it.
Then blizzard started taking my stuff away and now instead of giving them probably $120/month average for subs and extras every month, Im back to a single $15 sub.
Thanks for helping me kick the addiction blizzard.
Great team you got there making decisions.

I use 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. accounts for boosting toons. It’s cheaper to pick up a copy of bfa for 25 bucks than to pay 60 bucks for a boost through the wow store. You don’t ever have to pay for the extra accounts (except the original cost), and you can apply the 110 boost to whichever account you want. I have multiple accounts, but all my toons are on the same account.

Gold farm botting

I got my second account for free with my ticket when I went to see the Warcraft movie. I keep it active because my characters can interact if they’re on different accounts. So a high level one can fly a lowbie around (for instance) or a mage can make ports. Characters on different accounts can trade with each other, too.

My sister has 2 accounts because she has more than 50 characters.

I ran two accounts from the first week of classic through end of Warlords.

I found it nice to have two if for nothing else than to be able to trade myself across Horde & Alliance on the Auction House. It was useful for a lot of stuff like farming and setting up alts for making gold off profession cooldowns, etc.

However, after the debacle of Warlords and how they handled flight, something I nearly quit playing the game over entirely until they decided to put it back. I was on edge. And when they confirmed they were going to be jerks and donkeys about flight again in Legion, I canceled my second account. I wasn’t going to waste two accounts of money per month on an inferior product where we had to wait horrendously long times for flight.

They said they learned their lesson in Legion. And I trusted them. So I kept playing and paying in Battle for Azeroth. But they lied. And here we are again waiting a horrendously long time for flight to come back again. And because they are just stubborn and arrogant, they actually think this is working well and some kind of compromise, which is just pure insanity, I’m on the edge of quitting entirely again.

When they told us they weren’t putting flight back until 8.2 during Blizzcon I immediately terminated my sub. My time is ticking down, but unfortunately I had bought the 6 month sub for the Dreadwake right before… If it runs out before flight is back, I’m probably gone. If 8.2 and flight is back before it runs out, I might stay if the patch comes with good enough content.

At this point, they are just making terrible decisions to cut costs despite degradation of the game. Between removing Master Loot. Massive time gates on flight. Azerite gear being a miserable replacement for Tier sets, legendary items, and artifact weapons. And the over reliance on RNG as a lazy mechanic to try and force people to sit at a loot slot machine instead of having better agency over gearing… they are just phoning it in at this point.

They aren’t the same company I came to love and support since I’ve been a high school kid with Orcs and Humans anymore.

  • it took me 2x through to get all 4 children’s week pets.
  • I need to farm a certain type of meat? Bring two characters out and get double the resources.
  • when I solo an old raid for mog, I can bring along a character of another armor type
  • I have mages on both accounts - I can port myself anywhere, any time
  • make a new character and need to get a new zone? don’t ahve to hoof it, just fly myself on my other account
  • never have to worry about how I’m going to invite characters to personal guilds
  • want to skip ahead some levels without question? just powerlevel myself through a few dungeons

having a second account is invaluable to me.

They have families. I know people who pay for four subs a month, so their family can play.

And since Blizz continue making stupid decisions and the kids get bored, the sub for all 4 is cancelled and they move on to another game.
