I’ve banked over 5K of soul ash and have yet to get a legendary. From what I’ve tried so far, I really like CoD. But yet it doesn’t seem to be optimal for anything. I mostly play resto, solo with enhancement and dps with elemental on the occasion. I also dabble between PvP and PvE.
So should I spread my soul ash over a few legendaries or dump it all into a ilevel 235 CoD piece?

Chains is a little painful on Resto since it only makes the spells instant cast, where as the others specs also make them free. Casting Chain Heal every other GCD is probably the fastest way you can drain mana in the entire game.
I’m fond of the Earth Ele leggo for Resto DPS and it works with off specs, but Primal Tidal Core is incredibly good for healing.
Chains is not optimal in the same way an amphibious vehicle is not optimal in a race. But you can drive it on water and a racecar can’t.
I’ve healed up to a +14 as ele with it, and other people have done 15s and more. Even if you don’t go full meme, the healing you can put out is no joke. A lot of content that would be too difficult for a single healer all of a sudden becomes much easier when a dps is doing 2k overall offhealing and 8k hps bursts. That’s the value of this Lego, the benefit to the group as a whole.
You can use another Lego and increase your group’s overall dps by like what, 5%? Or you can use this and increase overall healing by 50%.
This.
Also, this is a laugh in 40 man bgs. Just sit back and top healing and damage as elemental. The healing this provides is seriously no joke.
But its niche.
I crafted one for BGs and those weekly dungeon quests.
Queue as healer and just run as ele for the faster queues.
I’ve only had one person complain. They had died on the last boss in NW because I couldn’t dispel the root. The boss died right after.
I said sorry was healing as ele so do dispel.
Currently testing it in plebe bgs as Enhancement, using the conduit for 12% primary heal boost on chain heal and 7% heal boost on targets with Earth Shield.
Some things to note with Enhance
casting chain heal or chain lightning at ANY time eats your stacks of maelstrom so there is zero synergy with elemental blast — lashing flames seems best simply due to a lack of doom winds to prop up forceful winds
Crit + Mastery become decent as now you have the ability to spam at range constantly while waiting for things to get to you — Crit helps beef your chain heal and CL, mastery helps beef your CL — no mana crit chain heals do roughly the same as a non-crit healing surge, but can be spammed every 2 GCD at range along with poke damage from alternating CL — no mana issues, which is some good utility
You can get some extra burst healing if you line up a 5 stack Healing Surge followed by an Instant no-mana chain heal
You will always have something to cast in rotation gaps due to 20 sec buff timer to utilize the instant
There is zero syngery between ride the lightning’s chain lightning off stormstrike and this legendary
Overall, for enhancement, the amount of GCDs to make use of it, along with Enhance’s amount of buttons to press make the “survivability” provided by this not make up for your loss in dps…which is sad for subspec resto oldies like me.

This lego is really fun for “healing” raid finder
i just made this leggo last night and went into lfr to try it out and man they had their panties in a twist. my husband (who is even more geared than my shaman - i’m ~216 and he’s like ~223) was tanking for me just so I could play with a not low level tank to experiment. just because I was elemental and que’d as a healer the complaining started rolling in… this was probably the 3rd wing i’d done this way. the first healer to complain (at the time he started the vote to kick) was under me in healing done and said its been “super annoying”. they continued to try to kick for the rest of the wing. super fun.
7/10 would do lfr again as elemental healing. i did go resto for sun king and council. rest were manageable. looking forward to playing around in low level keys!
The legendary was mostly targeted toward resto that want to pvp in raids or keys, a dps healer in keys can mean a world of difference. A healer dps’ing in pvp is dangerous. As for using it as an elemental its a bit of a waste since Lava Resurgence and Echoes is great UNLESS you are a main resto and switch over to ele for a fight or two.
I highly doubt this as there is ZERO benefit to using this as resto and all the downside to spamming CH and going oom.
This leggo is amazing for ele. I queue as resto and heal weekly dungeons and timewalking all the time. Speeds up the process tenfold for me and the group. Not to mention ele healing +15s with this leggo. And dont even get me started on large scale PVP with tis thing.
Definitely not targeted at resto.
