With the release of 9.2.5, we have now seen grouping of every playable race regardless of faction. Not to mention that for the first time in WoW’s history really, the lore has it in place to where we are currently in a somewhat rocky peace.
I think it would make sense, to pull a Pandaren, and have to where at level 10, a pop up is forced on your screen, similar to the Threads of Fate one, that demands you to choose a faction. Be it Horde or Alliance for all races.
This wouldn’t hurt Blizzard’s bottom line, as a faction change to switch sides, would still be a paid service.
However, it would come with the added bonus, of making the argument of OP racials, no longer mattering, and we could see Night Elf Druids on the Horde, or Blood Elf Paladins on the Alliance.
As for the factions associated with them, they could do what they do now. Where they just switch to their counterpart. So like Darnassus would be Undercity Rep, and vice versa. But you could let those races who have heritage armor, keep their armor, if they have unlocked it.
At least, I think it would be nice, especially with the Horde having the majority of the population on US servers. That way I could still be with the player base, and have my nice druid, because as it stands I only really like Night Elf or Worgen Druids.
I mean, if you go that route, wouldn’t be better to just not have factions whatsoever? Less complicated to justify. It would be just “Ah, I am tired of Silvermoon today, kinda just want to hang out in Stormwind for a while.”
Same, lol. Plus, Elves will always be popular, lmao.
Yes and no, I personally like war mode, and the idea of it, as well as the potential of two sides for the story and narrative routes you might want to take. But I feel like if nothing else factions probs wouldn’t ever go away because of how all the older xpacs are coded with zones and storylines, and it would mean they’d loose the faction change cash shop item, which they make a pretty penny on.
The factions would still be there, the player character would just get the freedom of being any of the races, in any of the factions. Like ESO, SWTOR, or one of the many other RPGS and MMORPGS.
No, it wouldn’t. Allowing anyone to be ANY factions essentially removes the POINT and reason of the faction if the game wasn’t designed for it from the start. All MMOs are different, just because others do something, doesn’t mean you gut the core of another.
Not really, think of the real world, we’re all humans, yet we’re all in different countries and go to war. Plus with Pandaren, Dracthry, and in a way Blood/Void Elf, there are already races that are very such so more open to being neutral in the lore. Same with Goblins really. We also see NPCs of each race, who don’t ally with the faction that the race is playable for.
I mean the whole thing is kinda ridiculous. I’m doing the new campaign and sylvannas is sitting right there. Like ok bro are you gonna kill me or what?? There’s all sorts of this stuff in game. Point I’m trying to prove is that sometimes the opposing faction is friendly. Why can’t I play an orc on alliance or a night elf on horde??
We are not someone special, the WORLD of warcraft happens around us. The framing of our adventurer is of some basic character. If you wanna go be a main character, go play FFXIV, SWTOR or something else. Stop trying to gut the world and setting of the game more just because another game does it.
Its already bad enough we are forced to help each other out… and honestly its depressing i miss the old warcraft days where it was kill one another conqure die, hang some humans up on a tree. Torture kill turn, etc
and honestly I blame Jaina and thrall we need to murder those 2 and get back the good old warcraft
