Paladins, Shamans and Druids are complicated.

It’s not lore, it’s technical reasons.

More precisely, these three classes need new art resources for each new race they are added to.

For example, to add Paladins to the other races, they need to make 2 mounts per race. So say you want to add Paladins to all races except Dracthyr. That’s 15 new Races, so you need to make 30 new mounts!

To add Shamans to the other 10 races, you need to make 40 new Totems, one for each element for each race.

Druids are the most complicated. That’s 16 races that need to get their own version of Cat Form, Bear Form, Travel Form, Flight Form, Moonkin Form maybe even Aquatic Form. So let’s say we don’t cut any corners, that’s 96 new models needed to add Druids!

So yeah, it’s coming. But it might take a while.

For the longest time Pandaren, which were the least played race even counting both factions together, also had the least options. It was only when they opened most classes up to everyone that we began to see parity. Gnomes were in a similar situation.

My biggest fear about all races having druid is them fumbling the standard forms and either not giving the new races their own exclusive forms, or they get one, but no color choices like the current druids have on their standard forms.

It’ll happen eventually. My money is on Paladin being the next class opened up with all the Tyr’s Guard stuff. I hope Shaman gets opened up before DF is over. Druids I can see them doing it in pairs - two races at a time over subsequent patches - given the sheer workload developing new druid forms for each race.

Demon Hunter and Evoker I’m pretty sure are going to be the exceptions and remain race-locked. Maaaaaybe we’ll see Void Elf and Nightborne Demon Hunters… but that’s a big maybe.

It would not surprise me if this work is already done and they’re just sitting on it.

That is true. They did just dump a bunch of new druid forms for 10.2, so it could be entirely possible they already rigged up a bunch of forms we don’t know about.
