Any Prot pals feel squishier?

I actually really love Paladin and tanking. I started doing it in dragonflight at the suggestion of friends in my guild. My favorite part of it is the utility and support it offers. It seems like I need to focus more timing defensives and maintaining buffs.

I happy for the feedback. Thanks.

Yes, focus on yourself first before trying to support others.

For a while, actually a lot of my runs, I am trying to help friends through mythics to get the ksm mount lol. But when I’m not my eyes still are watching everybody else. It will be a challenge but I’ll give a go this weekend to see if I can improve.

Maybe that is partly why dps and healing to me is less stressful.

Personal progress has always been through pugs.

Yes, helping the group is a good thing especially from a class with so many tools; however, just like in real life, you can’t help someone until you help yourself. If you save a group member, but you die in the process then what’s the point? You staying alive is the biggest help to the group.

I also pug and I understand fully that some groups have zero synergy and are more work than others.

Edit:

By the way, I suggest working on crafting better secondary stat items.

You don’t need anymore than 10,500 mastery points (27%). You are at 12,000.
You also need way more Haste, 19% is very low. Aim for 25-30%
You don’t need any versatility besides what comes with the Tier sets.

  • 27% Mastery
  • 25-30% Haste
  • Rest into Crit

+Rank 2 Haste Flask.

Yes! I noticed the gear stats weren’t right a few weeks ago but haven’t done a thing to help it. Instead I made a warlock and a shaman. I got stuff to look forward to doing.

i like how sosari is the only guy helping this person with general improvement

I’m mostly playing ret and I was asked to tank a +10 CoE. I felt extremely squishy despite having pretty decent gear. Now I know you’re supposed to press a defensive when going into a pack, but my “to-go” defensive is a 1.4m CD and doesn’t last very long. Some packs in the end were absolutely trucking me to a point where even using WoG was barely enough to keep me alive.

Considering this is done on much higher keys than a +10, what’s some rotational defensive tips for this? I do use consecration and stand inside, but I still feel like I’m running out of mana simply trying to catch up with the incoming damage and not having any defensives to press.

My only tanking experience comes from VDH where I basically constantly press Demon Spikes to have something, so I’m not used to this.

No one can really help you without a log to review outside of regurgitating things in the guides.

do you have a log? cause you have to cycle your defensives going into packs and what not

That’s part of the skill curve I spoke of earlier with having to manage the CDs of multiple defensives and to make sure you have them up at the appropriate times.

  • Ardent Defender
  • Eye of Tyr
  • Holy Bulwark
  • Trinket
  • Blessing of Spellwarding/Protection
  • Guardian of Ancient Kings
  • Divine Shield
  • Gift of the Golden Val’kyr
  • Tempered Potion
  • Lay on Hands

Yes, none them last very long and is why Warrior is still supreme in terms of pure mitigation; but, we have enough to roll one into another. There are times in high keys where you need to layer multiple smaller defensives together.

You should be able to use 1-3 defensives per pull since the CDs are relatively short and have CDRs built in with the use of Holy Power Spenders.

Do I need a Warcraft Logs account to view this data and make it readable for my pally?

You don’t need an account to read the data, but you or someone else in your party/raid needs to log it and upload it to the website.

Yes. For as much hate as Sosari gets on the forums they’re typically very helpful and knowledgeable about prot. I really like it when people use actual WCL numbers for comparisons although it doesn’t seem to be working in the Undermined PTR warrior posts, lol.

People let emotions trump facts.

While we don’t know the exact numbers coming for warrior tuning in 11.1, a lot of the “changes” don’t make sense. Prot Warrior will certainly be seeing a nerf with the design change. While Arms/Fury is unknown at the moment. We’re still rather annoyed with the crushing nerfs we’ve seen this expansion.

Except that kind of attitude and behavior is 100% against terms of service. I wouldn’t care but I’ve been harassed by staff over far less that I see Sosari get away with. There’s several “chosen” among these forums that give it the elitist toxic atmosphere it has and that’s one of them.

If you feel that I’ve broken ToS or CoC then report the posts. It has nothing to do with being “choosen”.

Grats, this is one of the dumbest posts ever made. Not only did Sosari point out the errors in the person’s play, they told them how to improve. People like you will literally take any excuse not to take accountability.

It’s what these people like to do, create a pow wow and bond over hating me while ignoring what’s actually going on.
