Well, casual has a few definitions. That’s just one of them. I personally subscribe to the definition of a casual that’s described as a person who doesn’t play very regularly, and has no schedule.
I did the same. I missed Legion for IRL reasons and so I took time during 8.3 to go back to the Legion zones and do all of the class hall things (which is great because, as a Druid, I still use my class hall/dreamwalking all the time).
I also got into battle pets during 8.2 or 8.3…whichever one it was where we had to push for exalted with Naz’jatar and Mechagon. Anyway, I wanted to be able to do the pet dailies for rep, and I got SUPER into the pets then and started getting achieves for those.
57 here and I just do what I want as far as raids go I’ll do the alt runs and cheevo farm runs with my guild other then that lfr.
Dungeons I’m good with folower ones for leveling and valor stones .
I’ll use delves and vault for main gearing
And I’m god with doing WQs for little things as well as mining and skinning to make gold .
I’m here for my good time and if I help someone elses good time while having my good time then cool
Ok then would a person that say plays 2 to 3 times a week doing Mythic raids would you call them a casual ?
Depends how long they spend raiding.
2 nights of 4 hours each is 8 hours a week, that’s kinda pushing the “casual” claim.
EDIT: Let me give a counter-example. Towards the end of last expansion (as is usual), we were down to playing just a couple hours a week. Log in on Tuesday, kill Mythic Fyrrak for mounts, log off. While some of us were farming achievements and pets, many people wouldn’t log in again until the following Tuesday to kill Mythic Fyrrak again.
Is that casual?
It sure as hell is.
What we’re killing (the hardest boss in the game) is irrelevant.
P.S. And in reference to the original topic, I’m 53. Most of the folks on our team are older, with careers, many with kids. And we clear Cutting Edge every tier. Age is just a number.
Same here. In my early 50s and left early in Dragonflight.
Delves and solo dungeons are my cup of tea.
It’s more that I’ve become very restless and need to cook/clean/exercise/work/other entertainment etc… so it’s often that I’ll game a bit, do a few quests, and then I’ll be off doing something else.
I enjoy my game time, but there’s always a nagging feeling like I can also do something else like move around so doing something like raiding is too much of a commitment especially cause I can’t really listen to music/watch shows and have to listen to conversations I don’t care for
I am 47 and just play how I. I don’ worry about about keeping up with everything. I have my own personal guild that I am planning to open up to like minded people. since I work 12 hour days at night, I’m not usually on during peak hours
A friend and I have returned and had similar discussions. We have reestablished the guild around the below concept. if anyone is interested feel free to reach out. guild name is Uncommon on Stormrage and we have a guild finder posting.
Calling All Seasoned Gamers!
Are you looking for a friendly and supportive community to enjoy your favorite MMORPG with? Look no further! We are a group of experienced players who believe in the power of friendship and fun over performance. Our goal is to create a vibrant community where everyone feels welcome and valued.
Why Join Us?
- Inclusive & Friendly: We are all about building genuine connections. Whether you’re running keys, farming transmogs and pets, or just relaxing after a long day, you’ll find a place here.
- No Raiding Pressure: Unlike many guilds on the Stormrage server, we have no interest in guild-sponsored raiding. We’ve learned that balancing raiding ambitions with a social framework doesn’t work for us. Instead, we focus on enjoying the game together in a stress-free environment.
- Rediscover the Joy: We want to bring back the joy of helping guildies, progressing as a group, and simply having fun. Our community is all about being outgoing, supportive, and making the most of this hobby we call WoW.
Who We Are
Many of us have been playing since Vanilla, BC, and Wrath. We love helping new players in a supportive, drama-free, and elitist-free environment. Our diverse experiences make us knowledgeable in many aspects of the game, and we are always eager to share and learn together.
What We Offer
- Gearing Assistance: Need help gearing up? We’ve got you covered.
- Class/Spec Practice: Want to try a new class or spec? We’re happy to run things and provide some practice.
- Mount Chasing: Love chasing mounts? So do we! Let’s chase them together.
- Achievement Hunting: Working on achievements? Let’s make it a party!
Family & Career Friendly
Many of us have families and careers, so we understand the importance of balancing gaming with real life. We may not always be online, but the more people around, the more we can plan fun events.
No Ego, No Negativity
We pride ourselves on maintaining a positive and welcoming environment. Ego and negativity have no place here. We want to keep it that way so we can continue to be… Uncommon.
Join us and be part of something special!
Guild finder posting is up, or you can reach out to Voidpalm (BTAG Ninjanerd74#1881) or Kurgunn in game
Wow made easy has chill folks from every age. Soon to ding 41 and enjoy the folks I’ve met here:
67 and stopped raiding and stuff back in bfa, i am simply to slow to keep up with they youngsters and am hoping one day there is like a solo version of raids because i know some have pets in them and i want the pets i love solo play now, can keep myself occupied for hours its pushing myself to get off game and do housework or cooking thats a pain i need a maid and a cook am so far really enjoying new expansion though as yet have only got delves up to level 6, i have many alts to level they take priority, and even deleted some so i can make baby new ones
38 here in the same boat. End, end game was made for devs & addicts. Sounds harsh but true
55 here and while I do things like mythic+ and raids, I don’t consider myself “pushing” it as I only spend a couple hours a week on it and it’s not like I am chasing “world first”.
Will be out of town but would love to check out Uncommon. Thanks
lol. listening to some people here it looks like the driving permits should be revoked at 40.
are you gonna drive 40 on the highway?
calm down youre not that old sheesh.
you can still go hard if you make the time for it. enough cope
40 isnt 90
i know the internet made you think you were old since you were ~27 but youre still young at 40 homies!
think Tony Hawk… sure some 12 years old spun faster but do you know his name? you know Tony Hawk tho!
Let’s not start with the ageism. This thread was about slowing down in the game due to Real Life and not nolifing it anymore as we did when we were younger.
Stopping to smell the roses more as it were.
I’m a 53 yr old lady , been playing since the beginning, I’m too slow and sore for the high rated stuff nowadays so i just potter around, love the delves and i always do lfr for the laughs, and i like raids. I have my own guild with all my alts in it, i love levelling for some reason lol so i have a ton of alts. I have all the rare mounts so I’m currently working on awake the drakes, just need the blazing drake, so running DS every week. Fun Fun.
This is how I want to play but I’m obsessed with the loot treadmill.
I’m in my 40’s and been playing since 2005 (off an on). I was never really hard core about it, but I’m even less so now for several reasons:
- Before Warbands, it was a pain to share mats between alts. Mailing stuff every time was lame, so I made an alt guild so I could more easily share. This precluded me from being in a guild for the most part.
- Guild drama. Too many guilds (I think pretty much all of them) have waaaay too much drama around them. It was too much for me in my 20’s, it’s WAY too much now.
If I had the perfect situation of having a good group of friendly, focused, available, and mature players who could also understand that this is a game, I might at least give the higher level stuff a shot. But I don’t feel any huge compelling need to.
At 59 I prefer just taking things in, never rushing and spread the occasional kindness.
