Any non-doomers here?

I am liking a lot of the changes in midnight and really looking forward to playing it.

Not saying people’s critisisms aren’t valid but I am personally excited.

first and foremost my class being fun to me is what matters. I am genuinely not confident it is going to be so there is no hype from me.

I have honestly never seen an expansion with less hype around it.

Me, I also like most of the changes in Midnight and am looking forward to it as well.

I’m pretty positive as well.

The reason you don’t see a lot of positive comments is that someone that is just ‘okay’ with something isn’t going to comment much. If they don’t have strong feelings towards the product they probably don’t even think of commenting or reviewing.

In this way the loudest voices are always the ones that are hyped or the ones that hate the update.

I thought the Deep Dive and the Q&A were really good and they got me pretty excited. I’m a little leary of the healing changes and the combat changes like lots of people but I’m taking a “wait and see” approach to the whole thing and I haven’t let it ruin my excitement for the expansion as a whole which I think looks good.

The game right now feels super boring so idk

I’ve always been of the opinion that the most important facet of an MMO is a large population interacting with each other. I’ve played really fun, low-budget independent MMO’s where the entire damage rotation is “attack,” but they were fun because the people playing the game had to rely on each other and interact in cooperative (and sometimes competitive) ways.

I think a fun, interesting class is a positive compared to a boring class, but I also think focusing so much on what an individual player can do or should be expected to do runs contra to the spirit of MMO’s. I know Midnight isn’t entirely changing the modern WoW formula like that, but if they could infuse the game with people who were less mechanically-oriented but wanted to contribute to a world, I think that would allow them, in future, to build gameplay systems around player interaction, rather than maximizing rotations.

I am in the middle.

Rogues needed changes as they are one of the least played classes. Rogues are already very complex so things can go only up because it was not rewarding to do so much for average gains.

But on the other hand Rogues are already heavy with passive talents and the loss of more active buttons is concerning.

We basically now have confirmation that we won’t be getting actual Forest Trolls, so I’m calling it Midnight at this point.

Be excited for whatever you like, but they had an opportunity to queue us up for something players like myself have wanted for ages and they spoiled it.

I am excited for these changes! Can’t wait. I’m all for simpler, meaningful gameplay

Toxic positivity doesn’t cause all of the game’s issues to suddenly disappear, by the way!

Midnight introduces guild and public neighborhoods for housing so that might be a step toward than along with Arcantina.

So it isn’t all doom from my view with Midnight.

Deep Dive was nice. Q&A was partially answering questions we already had answers to, partially vaguesplaining, a smidgen of useful info and then a bit of useless fun. So it was nice but not as informative as I’d liked.

Also sad that no questions on transmog 2.0 were answered and they didn’t even talk about it.

Annoyed that two highly upvoted questions didn’t get answered. And still no word on guild permissions.

Im hyped for Midnight. The only thing I’m annoyed with is having to relearn my class abilities again and swap up rotation. Other than that its good.

Im not dooming and i am looking forward to midnight.

But id be lying if i said i was happy with the way my spec is looking right now.
Im hoping for a lot of changes over the course of alpha/beta to… basically undo everything they just did XD

Idk yet. The whole expansion didn’t excite me, but I have Stockholm syndrome for WoW and will play when Midnight drops, at least

The QoL and class changes has me somewhat hopeful

Still doomer about the weak feature list

I have a hard time making a conversation topic out of zen and contentment.

Housing is definately something I’m looking forward to, despite my lack of artistic aptitude. It’s been almost 20 years since my Ultima Online houses burned down and I’ve been having nostalgic pangs about building myself a space.

(Edit: oops, I fear I’ve lost my non-doomer status after the pet battle reveal)

I am always excited for a new expansion. I’ve seen stuff that excites me along with stuff that concerns me in the announcements. As ever, I will try to reserve full judgment until the expansion launches.

I think it’s possible to have both. I’m excited about Midnight, generally optimistic about where everything is headed, and also extremely concerned about some of the gameplay changes that are being announced.
