i hate the aim/click mechanic of these spells.
im wondering if theres a way i can make them work more like instant firebreath… just point my character in the direction i want it and press the button…
is this possible or no?

Nope.
You could potentially use a mouseover, but I’m afraid it may be very inaccurate and hard to deal with.
Should be the flavor text for the ability on mouse-over.
The green rectangle is what the devs call a “reticle targeting spell.” There’s no way to aim or target it automatically, although there is the ALT self-cast option–that might work.
There was a brief period in 9.2.5 where the devs made a mistake and if you made a macro of the spell (just a plain macro, no modifiers), you could use ALT and click that macro button (or its assigned keybind if you made one) and the reticle was auto-cast on your current target, as described on Wowhead HERE. That was fantastic for spells like mage’s Blizzard, and hunter’s Wild Spirits, but fun was detected and that unintended behavior was removed shortly after it showed up. Now holding ALT auto-casts the reticle at your character’s position (like it always did before).
There is no way to make it automatically shoot forward.
However if you use the following macro:
… this literally still exists for those spells, what you are describing was a bug
But for the stuff like Blizzard you just use “/cast [@target] Blizzard”
And you can also a bunch of other types of targeting options to be part of it so it knows what type of targeting to prioritize and so on, but no what you are describing was a bug and wasn’t working as intended - doing what I pointed out above, that’s the intended way to do it
And in terms of Dracthyr’s “landslide”-ability, you should be able to just use “/target [@cursor]” and it’ll fire it off where you have your cursor
But you still have to actually target something, whether your mouse, an enemy, an ally, or a mouseover target (which now is baseline, even if for a spell for this I think you’d still require a macro but still - point remains)
My mouse’s right bottom went kaput ! I’m on a laptoop but still using the mouse but “right /left switched”. Only one problem was left to solve : deep breath. Now I´m playing without any problem. In fact i find this thing of “point and shoot” even better. You are my HEROE
