I know I know… Im the old man in the room, but I just do not like discord. I came back to the game and every active guild requires or strongly pushes Discord and their in game guild chat was essentially dead.
I get that I am the odd man out, totally get it. Are there any higher end Mythic raiding or higher Key guilds that don’t use Discord these days and only communicate through in game chat? Or is it pretty much required to play now to push end game effectively?
We only require discord when we start doing content that requires voice co-ordination.
It’s not that we LOVE discord it’s just the game is tuned to a point where is virtually impossible to play without voice comms. The ingame voice com system is for a lack of a better word S***
It’s one of the main reasons I won’t ever join a guild. I do think it’s needed if you have guildies who want to do dungeons or raids or any form of pvp.
I don’t know, I just really don’t care for it. It sucks being alone in an MMO but no guild is honestly worth it these days.
agreed on that.
Even four of us had to resort to using outside 3rd party comms just to shoot the breeze when playing. Kept losing the connection with the in game garbage
LOL I have my own guild, used to advertise it, but gave up.
no instanced content, no discord…just casuals doin their own thing, on their own time…with no grief for doing so.
sigh…just me n my alts…lol…but I find a way to have fun anyways
because discord is a free service and if you’re doing high end game you want to communicate. Not sure why you’re so against it. Ingame guild chat is ok but there are no search function and harder to link stuff in there. There are still guild who use other voice comms but I believe they cost money.
I have been playing MMORPG’s since 99 and EQ and never once have used any voice communication. In fact, I haven’t used in game sounds or in game music in over 12 years.
I don’t raid, but I like Discord. I don’t understand why so many are against Discord. Plus, Discord isn’t just reserved for the gaming community. There are many, many, MANY Discord servers out there, not revolving around video games, at all.
It’s better than me typing, and I quickly say things while playing instead of stopping to type. Though, you can type in Discord, too.
On top of that, when I can’t access the game, I can still talk to everyone via Discord or watch my friends play games, while I’m doing something else. Discord helps me STAY connected.
